Comment:
Professor Dix is not as bad as everyone makes him out to be, but it can be frustrating at times when he makes constant mistakes during lectures. Chemistry is a difficult subject and people find it easier to blame the instructor than their own study habits. Read the text book and go to tutoring sessions as much as possible.

I only went to lecture for clickers. I got a 50 on the first test because I paid attention to Dix who constantly makes mistakes. The tutors saved me and the amount of work I did was ridiculous. To get a decent grade in the course, go to lecture for clickers, do other work and then go to the tutor and read the textbook. To have a SOOT midsem..ridic

Terrible teacher who constantly makes mistakes and loses students in conceptual confusion. cannot explain concepts explicitly for his life, surprised he's still teaching. quite frankly, i want to know where he got his credentials from.

There is one word to describe this professor: atrocious. Tip for doing well in class: go for attendance (but pay attention to Facebook). Then READ YOUR TEXTBOOK and ATTEND TUTORING SESSIONS with the CLT. This professor cannot teach intro classes to save his life. Be prepared to work HARD by YOURSELF to understand the material. He won't help you.

His knowledge of the subject is profound. Unfortunately his teaching style is unsuitable for those unfamiliar with mathematical and philosophical rigor. Do not expect him to spoon feed you answers, but think no less of him. The man seriously knows his subject. The key to doing well in his class is, like that in life, self-motivation.

Dr. Dix is awesome. P-Chem is curved to a B, so do ~10 % above average on exams and you're AROUND the A range (do as well as you can). Go to office hours, and if you can't, make appointments to see him and go over material. The class is difficult, but if you want to succeed it is quite possible.

Professor Dix isn't a bad chemistry professor. He's just a bad intro to chemistry teacher. In his effort to explain assumptions intro chem makes he confuses students. Unfortunate but that's how he is. While you'll probably do poorly in class, my year got curved so that an 84.7 was an A.

he does not explain anything right, has no interest in how the class does, and he gets confused a lot while explaining problems. Do not take this course with him, there is a much better chance that you will fail. 108 is definitely harder than 107, but this guy just makes it unbearable. Almost half of the section dropped out or changed sections

Absolutely terrible teacher - always contradicted himself and actually at some points taught us the WRONG information and tried to blame the class's failing average (of over 250 people) on us and not his teaching. Can you say oblivious?!

I didn't know what hit me until I walked into his class. Exams are extremely difficult, quizzes were no better, bright side, gives partial credit. Expected to answer each question with a full page of calculations and explanation. If you can see past your insecurity he is very helpful, very clear if you understand the subject. read the book!

so it was a really hard class, and he was really confusing, but it's hard to complain too much about a class where someone can get a 25 on one of the tests and still get an A

Terrible.Horrible.I have never seen so many people cry after tests in my whole life!!He is way to intelligent to teach this class and doesn't understand that not everyone is a chem major.Tests are impossible, decent curve, gives away stuff in lecture, ruined my GPA.oh,you will love the "we design the tests so the average is 50% talk".

Deathly difficult and going to lecture doesn't help. Don't waste your time going to class because he'll just confuse you even more. Use the notes online and live and breathe your textbook. You're going to come out not remembering a thing.

Dix makes chem much harder than it has to be. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult, but open note and open book, though that doesn't usually help. Curving system makes it so it doesn't matter how above average you are. He is very condecending and makes you feel bad that you don't understand it. Makes mistakes in lecture often. I hated this class.

This guy is funny at times, but his test are hard. The only way to really do good in this class is to read the book and learn the stuff. Although very smart, often makes mistakes in lecture, but it happens. He's a good overall guy, but tests are hard, so always bring your A game. Make sure you get as many points as possible at the beginning of year
