I really like Dr. Fink. If you're a QFin, you have to take this class. He has lots of coding assignments to improve your grade (because 35% of your grade is from your midterm grade), which he is available in office hours to help with (after the binomial tree, it's pretty smooth sailing with those). FIN 405 is hard but Dr. Fink is a good teacher.

He assumes all students to know some of the materials already. His explanation is poor for the students who have not touched the materials before. This is like jumping off a cliff class. You might survive or die. NO CURVING or EXTRA CREDIT at all. MOSTLY ALL WRITTEN QUESTIONS like proving stuff. I always seek to other professors to help w explaina

3 Tests. Can be 50/50 or 30/30/40. The subject matter is difficult, but Fink does a decent job at explaining it. Do the homework and form a study group to make new problems. If you practice the material enough, you can get by with a C. It's a tough class for sure. Take 371 first if you can.

He has the pepper, he has the knowledge, but is he the man we all think he is? Find out Tuesday in this weeks edition of classes ill probably fail. He's cool though, tried to take us on a class field trip to chicago to deliver corn to someone for a futures contract. Quite appealing to my inner agriculturist. 10/10 would pepper.

tests are 7-11 ?s, MC and free answer math. MC answers A-G choose all that are correct, and only the correct- NO PARTIAL CREDIT. average on test 1 49, Low 5. Curves class at the end, not per test. Interesting class, but hard to grasp at times. GO TO CLASS. Fink is a good teacher, but sometimes doesn't dumb material down enough

Great professor, tough class. His lectures are interesting but can be hard to follow, definitely attend class. Review your notesassignments you should be able to grasp the material. Two midterms and a comprehensive final. Allows you to take the higher score of two methods (30% 30% 40%) or (50% 50% drops one midterm). MATH IS DIFFICULT!

Fink is an awesome teacher, and is by far one of the smartest Profs in the COB. However, lazy students who are used to easy finance classes blame him for their failure. If you attend class and study the notes, there is no excuse for not doing well. If you fail to pass this class you should reconsider being a finance major.
