Dr. Portnoy's great! very very helpful, I mean he's hard, but he'll help you become a better writer if you let him. I took honors Brit Lit from him. great class. but a word of advice: get the papers done early in the semester. he's extremely lenient (at least in honors) on due dates. don't back yourself into a corner. get the papers done.

This professor needs to get a clue. He's the advisor for honors and will just put you in his class even if you don't want him to. He also will make you feel like the s****of the earth if you even mention how it stinks that perimeter isn't offering anything worthwhile spring semester. And don't even dream of talking about transferring when he's arou

I have to give Portnoy a pepper. He's got a Richard Gere kinda thing going on. Besides that, he is a wonderful prof. I would love to take more classes with him. He is not easy, but he is definately quality!!!

Dr Portnoy is wonderful. I learned so much from him. Sure he gives out hard stuff, but this is college- people!!!!! Show an effort & he appreciates that. His reading assignments are long but that's just the way it goes. At times it can be frusterating b/c he does demand a lot. But he does it for your own good. What's so terrible about that?!

Dr. Portnoy's class is not very easy, reading assigments are long, and he is a tough grader. But in the end, it is worth it bc he is a very good writer and helps you become a better writer.

Hard but interesting.. LOTS of papers. He's always there for you if you need help. If you plan on ever taking a master's program, he's a good one to take what you go through writing papers for him is similar to what doing the thesis.

He is a tough assigner, but an easy grader. He'll dole out roughly 50-60 pages of reading every class. He has no qualms insulting anything and anyone he thinks is stupid (everything and everyone). Accept what he tells you. Do not argue. Despite his tough liberal exterior, he is pretty nice and will greatly improve your writing skill if you let him.

The reading load was pretty much what I had expected, although maybe a little more crunched for time. What I didn't expect was the avalanche of pop-up papers. I was disappointed by the attitudes of most of the joint enrolled high school kids in the class. They should not have been in there. Also surprised at the amount of class skipping.

Despite being a hard editor and MLA Nazi, he's a pretty good guy. His writing standards are high, but he allows unlimited revisions. Time is spent discussing readings and working on MLA. An occasionally frustrating but fairly easy class. Expect to be challenged.

Do not take this class, or any other class with this man. He is one of the most unpatriotic people on the planet, and grades based on his liberal bias. He consistently assigns the class reading that is ****graphic in nature. Dirty, dirty, dirty!

His class sucked. I went in liking lit and came out pretty much hating it. He's boring; I hated his grading style, and watch out if you're conservative- he grades papers on political bias. If you try it's not hard, but the grade's not worth the class.
