She seems pretty laid back until it comes to grading. She realizes shes a tough grader and will tell you that straight up. Sometimes can get a little out there. The class had only a couple grades. However it was a really interesting class that I would only recommend if you don't care about getting an A. NOT AN EASY A GEN. ED!

assignments are extremely VAGUE. barely even gives a specific length so you're never really sure if you have written what she wants. the midterm and final are two essays. one essay is longer than the other but I was literally writing for 2 hours straight for both exams! the amount of information she wants you to remember is doable but the way she expects you to retain that information is ridiculous. does not use power points so all information you have is your notes. grade B. slow grader

Professor Lackey is a very nice women and keeps class discussions interesting even when the movies are not. If you are a laid back person not concerned about grades this is the class for you, however she only returned graded work 3 weeks before the final, giving students no time to improve grades

Lackey is really enthusiastic and knowledgable. She can make literally anything seem interesting. Be warned though, she is a notoriously hard grader. But you feel like she knows what she's talking about and she overall wants everyone to do well. In her Women and Gender class you watch movies every week and discuss them in class. She's fun but hard.

Lackey is cute and funny and awesome. She has a lot of personality and it's all good. She's a great lecturer too. However, there is a lot to cover in this class, and there are pop quizzes, tough readings, cumulative tests, and to top it all off she's a really, really hard grader. It's bearable because she's so cool, but know what you're going into.

Lackey is really sweet, and enthusiastic. If you don't enjoy outlines, essays, and 8 page papers on supernatural creatures then don't take it. IF you do, this is the class for you.

Everyone should take her for Women & Gender in film, because it's the best class. But History of Film with her was absolutely fantastic. She is so enthusiastic and fun. She is a super tough grader, but if you really pay attention and have a predisposition for film, it's 100% worth it. TAKE ALL OF HER CLASSES

I took Lackey's new vampire course this semester, and I honestly really enjoyed it. I have a huge interest in vampires/vampire lore. This vampire is COMPLETELY movie related. She lectures for 1/2 the class, you watch movies for the other half. The midterm was an essay and I got an A.It was simple. The final is an opinion based take home. Great class

She gives a lot of readings, but you don't have to do them, because she discusses them in class. Midterm and Final are essays but she gives partial credit. You have a paper to write, which is not hard and a group project (also not difficult). If you don't understand something, hit up her office hours; they help a lot. And a weekly movie screening.

Be prepared to read A LOT for this course. She assigns a lot of reading assignments, which is pretty much the entire class besides the movie screenings. Does not provide clear explanations on this issue. Goes off topic often. Hard grader for midterm and final which are essay. Does not provide clear grading standards for both of them.

Far and away the MOST interesting class I've taken. Every Monday evening, you go to VB and watch a movie, and once you hit the third week or so, each and every one of them is awesome. It's a real treat. I've been exposed to tons of great movies that I would never have watched otherwise. I agree with just about all the praise for Lackey here. TAKE.

Great class great prof! I had never taken an EMF class and I dont like writing. She is so helpful and clear. Just take notes in class and watch the movies. The papers are really not that bad. I was dreading the final project but it was totally manageable and I am LAZY! I loved the class she really motivated me to learn. I wish i could take it again

pretty great teacher. smart, makes the subject interesting, encourages participation. She explains the articles really well so that you actually learn a lot. Def go to class. study the notes. 2 essay tests that cover a lot of articles. I dont like essays and thought those were kinda hard. One 4-5 page paper and she grades easily on that. Easy B

interesting elective. She was very enthusastic about film so the class didn't get boring. The tests aren't too hard. You have to have a good grasp of the overall concepts in order to write the essays. be sure to check over your grammar on papers because it will cost you serious pts on papers. Overall good class. Easy B.

When I was sitting in the class, I was kinda bored, but a semester later, I actually miss it! It was really interesting, and she was very helpful. I never read the book, but got A's on the two tests and paper becuase she explained the articles SO well. She's not a feminist nazi, she just loves teaching film.

She is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. It is a 300 level class and she expects a lot out of students. Get ready to learn TONS about film history. She does not seem to give A's out very easily. 2 tests, midterm and final. Both are short answer/essay

Great teacher! Really nice and goes over every reading in class in detail. If you miss class, just make sure you've done the reading. 2 essay exams that are not too hard if you study a good amount. Really helpful. Not too strict with attendance, just make sure to email her if you're going to miss it and it won't count against you. Good class!
