Comment:
I did not appreciate the grading style of Professor Rand. I understand that he wants to prepare students for the real world, but sometimes that isn't applicable in a learning setting. He is very passionate about his subject matter, but the group project and grading guidelines were stressful and at times very confusing.

Whole class was the same group for all projects so pick the right people. His lectures were very disorganized and executive summaries were vague on what he's looking for. Makes you buy his book and it's filled with typos and grammatical errors.

Comment:
Most business majors at SPU will either hate Dr. Rand or love him. Personally, his teaching style is the opposite of what I prefer. He claims that he is "intentionally vague" in directions because it's "real business." which just ends up making everyone stressed out and aggressively competitive. Get a good group at the beginning or you're screwed

After taking Operations with Dr. Rand, he has become one of my favorite professors at SPU. Not only a great instructor, but a great person. He believes in real-world application rather than tests. My only regret is he doesn't teach more undergraduate courses. TERRIFIC professor!

This is possibly the most difficult class in the business school. The entire quarter is a series of group projects that are highly competitive, but you can fire people from your group if they're not pulling their weight. This class will teach you how to think and how to really work collaboratively. This is the class you will cite in job interviews.

You really have to think in this class, but don't be afraid to speak your mind. Dr. Rand really wants students to engage the material and make applicable connection to real life. Bonus: very few classes have taught me more and he doesn't believe in tests.
