Good prof, book is pretty clear, prof is not avail unless he is physically in class. The most helpful part of this class is all quizzes and exams are online and he encourages group work. This is not an easy class. It takes up a lot of time and gets harder as the weeks pass.

if you are forced to take accounting like i am, TAKE IT WITH THIS TEACHER. he usually lets you out an hour early, and i took the 6-10 pm class once a week. my favorite teacher at mesa by far

great teacher!this is not an easy class, you can't afford to slack off, and you will need the textbook but having Winninger as the teacher makes it enjoyable. Extremely helpful and always makes times for his students. Take this class if you want to learn accounting and have fun.

Had the long night class. Jim is the ideal teacher you want. Intelligent,helpful, understanding and fair. this class isnt easy but he helps that. If you have to take accounting take his class

Very knowledgeable. Had his 6-10 class and it was brutal to stay so long but he was always on top of breaks and could tell when we were burnt. I reccommend him to anyone who wants to learn and that will leave with information. He is so nice and very helpful! Read read read and show up to class & you will pass with flying colors.

Comment:

Good, reliable teacher. A 6PM - 10PM accounting class is never easy, but Jim really helped the students through it. He understood if the students just couldn't take any more for the night and would let us out early. Would definitely recommend Jim in the future.

I have to take this for my major and was scared. Jim is so helpful and if you ask for help he will give it. He likes questions and you to be involved in class. Take his class because you will learn and gain useful information from it. He is very nice and I would reccommend him to anyone that needs this class. Definitely study and make it to class!

Jim is really nice and helpful. All his test are take home except for the final. If u do well on the test you don't have to take the final. The homework is online but lest u check your answer. I revieved a B but I did work fairly hard. if you are going to take ACCT take it with him!

Jim is a solid teacher. If you do well enough on the 3 take home tests you don't have to take the final. What more could you ask for? He clearly cares about his students. Go to class, participate, do the HW and don't wait til the last min. to do the tests.

Gen Ed req, if you have to take this class, take it from Winninger. Extremely helpful and tries to make accounting fun, which isn't really possible, but at least he makes jokes and actually communicates with students. Passionate about teaching and responds to emails quickly. I took on Saturday, gives take home tests. Really good teacher!!!

If your new to Accounting like I was he is the best you could possible ask for. Do your readings, listen to lectures, participate in class and an you'll get that A. It's a challenging class but he's there to help his students all the way. I wish he taught 116B!

Took his class in 2006. Great teacher. He always said "No question is stupid." It made me feel comfortable to ask any questions which helps understand the material better. He is funny and tell accounting related jokes.

The material is average in the beginning, it's not anything you can't learn. Towards the end is where it gets hard cuz you deal with bonds and stocks (hated it!). His tests are pretty hard too, but showing up to class and homework counts towards your grade. His teaching structure is great. He's a good teacher, I recommend!

Overall, it was good course. The material is dry, and so is the text book. However, Jim tries to liven things up. He likes when the class is enthusiastic. If you read the chapters (most of each chapter) and do the homework before class, you will do great. His lectures have a way of clarifying what you've read. You get out what you put in.
