Amazingly knowledgable and an inspiration. I completely enjoyed his lectures, although they sometimes went in interesting directions. His critiques were honest and fair and he always made time for help and/or suggestions.

This was such an enjoyable class. John is very knowledgable about photography and introduces you to so many interesting artists and projects. He really knows his stuff, and he's pretty funny too. I will always remember this course! Highly recommended if your'e interested in photo!

What a wonderful man and teacher.so what if he talk's about his family he will let you talk about what ever your passions are. hes amazing!!! i was out of country for 6 weeks while taking his class. just talked to him about it and he was totally understander! let me take pictures in india and let me borrow the school's camera. just go to the lab hours. no test! just go to the class review. you could chose the days you want to attend. super duper nice! id take him again!

John is the man. He has many good stories and much wisdom to share. If you have a snack in class it helps to pay attention. Unclear about when assignments are due but that's just how relaxed he is. Careful though, the final kind of sneaks up on you.

John is somewhat unclear with what he wants for the assignments, but he is more than willing to help during the lab. i don't reccomend doing this class with film, though...It an be overwhelming. As long as you do all of the assignments, even if you do it half-heartedly, you are pretty much assured an A. Lectures are pointless, so skipping is okay:)

I regret taking his class. Too many assignments, unclear instructions, and pointless lectures combine for one terrible class. John is an interesting guy, to say the least. He will ramble, ramble, and ramble some more, until he can finally relate something back to his daughter. Frustrating class. 99% of the things he says don't pertain to the class.

I took this as a high school student, he was a lot of fun. he gives A LOT of extra credit, so by doing that, u can get an A. he helps u out with any difficulties, and he really inspires u. he told me that i shot 1 of the 10 best photos on campus!! although he does prefer film, that photo was digital, so in the end he doesnt care. i LOVED his class

Great teach he inspired me to do things with photography I never thought of. He is VERY fair. I recommend this professor to everyone even if you don't love photography. He will show new ways to look at the world, and yourself. Viva La John Grey

I have 3 classes with John or Comrade as he suggests he be called this semester. He's one of my favorite teachers. Very understanding and open with deadlines. Show up to class and befriend him and he'll offer a wealth of knowledge. Don't be afraid to ask questions or challenge his grades. One of the best teachers. Changed my life...

This man changed my life. He leaves himself wide open for practical jokes, but only IF you make those jokes inventive, creative and different. He teaches more than how to use a camera, he teaches you how to see. Then you learn long after the class is over that he taught you not just how to see out of camera, but how to view life. He's a good man.

I love John. He's definitely one of my favorite teachers at MP, but I know some people who don't like him... If you're willing to put money and time into the class, it's totally worth it.
