I took this class a while ago and I do not have good memories. Lots of reading (he wrote the books), dry lecturing, super opinionated and if you don't agree you are wrong. He talked about mushrooms a disproportionate amount of class. The class itself was not super difficult but the midterm and final were hard, though part take home helped.

I was genuinely interested in the mag/rit class but when I got into it, he began talking about mushrooms and how the catholic church hates him. Very confusing if you miss even one class. Nothing on canvas-get notes from peers. Very understanding, In class quizzes at the end of class on videos. midterm + final are 10% in class 70% take home

Ive already taken Bio Anthro 1 before but I needed a higher grade cause I wasnt happy with what I got. You would think I knew what he was talking about in class. WRONG. Hes gone over NOTHING that I already knew, talked about how god didnt exist and how random mutations for a new species doesnt just randomly happen. Bad professor and bad lectur

I really liked Professor Rush. He is interesting and teaches a wide range of subject in his Anthropology 9 class. I may not have agreed with his political views but I respect his ability to really live, think, and teach outside the box. If you are triggered by a different view of religion this may not be the class for you. A+ in my opinion.

If ur not ready to have libertarian views shoved in your face for 3 hours, don't take this class. Lectures bounce ALL OVER the place, never make sense. Graded on videos and 2 exams. Both exams are 70% take-home, 30% in class, so that helps a bit. He assigns A LOT of reading at home, books are as difficult to follow as lectures TAKE LOTS OF NOTES!

Rush is really knowledgable and gives interesting lectures, just get ready to take continuous notes for the full class time ( I took at least 5 pages every class). The only graded assignments were worksheets for in-class videos, but they weren't worth much. The only way to pass is to do the reading and take detailed notes for the midterm and final.

What you need to know before taking this class is that it's all about myth, religion, and magic mushrooms. I took notes for the fun of it because his lectures are interesting, but also helped me with the Mid-Term and Final exams (only tests in class). First 75 questions on mid and final are take-home with extra credit questions and rest in class.

I was disappointed by this class. The lecture was all over the place and never had actual coherent information. The material was interesting but all over the place, and mostly just opinion based info. Dont take if easily offended lol. There was 2 tests based mostly on reading youre expected to do outside of class. I feel like I didnt learn anything

he makes you think bout things in a different way, the lecture is always intriguing, although he expects you to know everything for the exam from studying outside of class. its difficult, but id rather it be like that than having done my homework, coming to class and recaping for 3 hours per week. its a learning experience, interesting and unique.

Professor Rush believes what he believes, and teaches what he believes. Does not teach the curriculum in class. Mostly self-study and lots of memorization. The other students are great, but most of the time, when Prof. Rush talks, I often find myself gritting my teeth.

He was very nice and easy to approach, however, his lectures rarely went over the information we needed for the exams. Most of the work was self-study and if you are not prepared for a LOT of memorization then don't take this class. The homework and workload is very doable, just be prepared to be disciplined in your study time. Grades on a curve.

Found it really hard to keep up with him in his lectures. There didnt seem to be any structure to his power points, kept going back and forth and referencing things that no one had explained to us before. For having no pre-requisites I found this class to be incredibly difficult to keep up with and, honestly, hard to believe.

Summer class. His grades consist of movie quizzes and 2 tests. Each test is 100 questions and the first 70 are take-home. There is too much terminology and I've been pretty lost since the beginning. You really have to read and study every day. He constantly injects his opinions about controversial topics and its irritating. Take a different class.

Great Professor, took his witchcraft class which is very interesting material to begin with. If you're easily offended or very religious this may be a difficult class for you as he doesn't shy away from sharing his opinions on some controversial topics. Do the reading take notes show up to class and you'll be golden.

Professor Rush is a really knowledgable and he teaches a class that will really benefit you as a person. Homework is not really mandatory, he gives you all the answers in class and allows you to turn that in. That being said, the final was VERY TOUGH. Out of 13 classes at Sierra, this was the first one I could not get an A. So many skulls...

Not too much to say. Intelligent guy, clear on his expectations. Show up to class, be open minded, take notes; you'll pass easily. Didn't use any of the books he said we needed to read (have read since then however). Could find all the information for tests online. The books were a fun read though.

Professor Rush is very straight forward which may offend some people but just made me love him all the more. It is very rare you come across a teacher who's main objective is to tell you the truth and try to teach it to the best of their ability. I have the utmost respect for him and recommend him to anyone who isn't blinded by their religion.

He is a typical anthropologist, who is passionate about this subject. He has different theories than other anthropologists and will explain why he believes his theory is more accurate. GO TO CLASS. Extra credit is only given based on attendance. Study those bones and Hominids and you will do just fine.
