Dont let the other posts scare you away. He was not a terrible teacher. At times, he seemed to be a little matter of fact but he was also very helpful. We did a lot of in class assignments and he did provide a 10% bonus on each test. I made sure I went to class each day and was on time and I do think that helped me pass. Not a terrible teacher!

Senor Arancibia is a good teacher and a really nice guy. He offers alot of help in and out of class. I would say that attendance is mandatory, and doing the homework is extremely helpful, though challenging. If you actually want to learn spanish,I'd recommend him !

He's honestly the worst professor I've had since starting college. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone that values their gpa and is interested in furthering their education. He doesn't help much by any means. There is A LOT of homework that doesn't count for a percentage, but rather 5 points on a test, IF you average 90%. 89% is equivalent to 0.....

Senor Arancibia is a pretty cool teacher. He is very straight forward and expects yu to work hard for your grade. If you are willing to work hard I would recommend him. Lots of online work that is five points on to test.

Comment:

One of the best professors at GPC. However, he has no tolerance for slackers, so if that's you, do not take this class. He won't hold your hand, you have to pay close attention. Mr. Arancibia gave us a lot of Spanish practice to help us prepare for tests, as well. As long as you do all the online homework and study the book a ton, you'll get an A!

Cool guy...He tries to make funny jokes to keep you interested in the lecture..He mostly reads from the book..You will have to participate a lot buuut come on you are learning a new language or rebuffing w/e ..Make sure you complete all of the h/w and show up..easy! Take him..also very understanding about making up tests.

omgsh he rolled his eyes at students for gettin stuck on a question. His first lang. is spanish and he doesnt really explain it well, everthing is pretty much read right from the book. Dont take him the way he does is gradin is strange too just like 5 test and homeork some kind of point system.

I only took this class to do both the half semesters. I received easy As as long as you do all the WEB SAM work, study and COME TO CLASS you will be fine. He is somewhat boring and does everything out of the book so I would have loved to take this class online. He does not answer questions well! I recommend him to someone who wants a *quick* A!

I love spanish & it comes naturally to me. But, this professor is definitely not your best option! he reads out of the book and is very monotonous. he makes you do A LOT of work that he doesnt give a grade for (i.e. handouts). His test are easy, if you study your butt off & memorize ALL the vocab. Don't take half semester with him, its not worth it

He is a strict teacher. You must revise all the spanish lessons you took in high school or in college. He goes straight to the point. He make sure that he goes on with the material even if there is 2 students in the class. Do not take him if you doubt your spanish learning skills. you can make an A if you study hard. The worts teacher ever.... I love languages but he made me hate him so much because he is the laziest person in the world. He is never prepared for class if he tels you something will be in the test do not trust him. I hate his teaching style and his grading method. AVOID THIS CLASS! Attendance isn't mandatory but you will get behind if you don't come. Older teacher, not the friendlist guy. From a Spanish background so he knows what he is talking about but doesn't relay info well. Has a thick accent and is strict about your accent. Study the book ALOT, do the online work - I did and only got a B.
