Professor Akers is a great professor! He makes learning Chicano history enjoyable. There are no tests or books, just a lot of online readings that you should take the time to read. He's very passionate and easy-going, I would definitely recommend taking him for 141A & B! As long as you work diligently and show up to class, it'll be a breeze.

His class was by far the best I`ve taken at SWC. He is very clear in his lectures, very sarcastic and funny. Attending and paying attention to his classes is the key to a good grade. I would definately take his class again.

By far one of the best professors I have ever had. Excellent teaching style, and really keeps you interested in the class. You do have to pay attention to keep up, but he makes it fun and interesting. I would recommend him highly for anyone taking a history class. AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!

Definitely assigns a lot of reading!! Gives 10 pts for participating in class discussions about the reading. Kind of hard to follow along in lectures-- he talks while you are trying to copy down the powerpoint. Rambles during lecture, makes it hard to pull out key points. Is willing to look over your notes and make sure you are prepared for tests.

He was a nice teacher. He wasn't really funny, but he does give lots of examples to make you understand. He's got the best powerpoints I've ever seen and you can learn quite a bit from them. He gives a lot of readings and work, so just stay committed. It's not a real fun class to take, but it can be an easy class. He needs to work on his teaching.

Truly one of my 2 best teachers. Still here "advising" me in the movement. If you really want to learn about the movement of la RAZA, definitely take this class. Its hard, but worth it, and I should know 'cause I used to be a lazy boy!

Funny and snippy all at once. Will bury you in work but his teaching style gives you incentive to actually do it and retain the knowledge. Can go off on tangents but usually catches himself before it gets too serious. DO NOT COME TO THIS CLASS IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE OR ASLEEP!

Was a really good class.Very interseting.He did know what he was talking about. The only thing is WATCH HIS GRADING!He "accidentaly" gives your points to others and turns extra credit into assignments when most of the class does it.
