I took Anicent and Medieval Science an it was easy but I wasn't interested at all so that made it a struggle. Everything is written and that can be annoying if you don't know the material. The book is only helpful for the take home final. Otherwise, I didn't use it. No homework but the material is dry. She lectures for an hour and fifteen minutes

Professor Tachau is BRILLIANT. She is the epitome of the stereotypical "scatter-brained" professor, but she's hilarious and makes everything interesting, and fun. She loves talking to students outside of class, but seems to play favorites a little bit. However, as long as you read and participate, she'll love talking to you!

Comment:
Avoid this professor. Half of your time in class will be spent on word origins, how fruit got to Spain, and other useless knowledge. This professor isn't concerned with learning; she doesn't even give a study guide for her tests. Her class is a complete waste of time and she teaches college students like they're high school freshman.

If you find her lectures scattered, you need to understand that education isn't just about tests. She's teaching concepts, ideas, and connections. She's not difficult to follow, if you deserve to be in college at all. Learn analytical thinking before you take her class.

Comment:
Her lectures seem pointless. She is obsessed with the origins of words and half of her lectures are pointless for the test. She spends no time on the important parts of history. Our midterm wasn't even about a historical event, but on what problems historians have researching. Attendance is taken, but you dont need to be in the lectures to get an A

The rants drive me nuts. She talks above the students and seems to hate Christians. Definitely smart, but man - get a life!

Professor Tachau is a true gem to the History department. Her classes are well-structured, fun, and inspiring. Unlike many professors, she geniunely gives a damn about students and will do what it takes to get a student interested. Very flexible. One i

Goes on rants, unorganized, and frankly annoying. We spent 3 class periods talking about Greek pillars and a whole week on bookmaking in Paris, yet one class on Alexander the Great and barely any mention of the Crusades. Lame.

I loved her lectures and although she comes at least 10 min late everyday, she was great. The tests aren't too bad.

Medieval Intellectual History. Sounds like a tough course. Not so. She is a little scatterbrained, but over all, gives great lectures. Her expectations are very fair. She has a good sense of humor in class too, which makes it enjoyable.
