Rogers is THE MAN. Down to earth, ridiculously intelligent, hopelessly fascinating. Everything you could hope for from a professor. He strikes a nice balance between teaching from the textbook and supplementing from his own experiences [which are VAST]. He's only here for two more years, so take this class while you still can!

This guy is probably the smartest person I know. I'm pretty sure he knows at least some words in every single language known to mankind. A little difficult to follow/hear at times, but his exams are pretty easy and the content of the class is fascinating. I really enjoyed the class as a whole and would recommend it to anyone interested in language.

While Prof. Rogers is a great guy, he is a lousy teacher. I hadn't taken french in three years, and I was dropped into the 103 level class. He was pretty sympathetic towards me because I just had no idea what was going on, but he didn't make an effort to help me. He doesn't teach, he assumes students will teach themselves outside of the classroom

He doesn't do much teaching, just pronouncing words. He picks favorites and if you don't know the answer he cuts you off. I'm a good, quite student and he had an extremely negative attitude towards me. Lots of oral sections on exams and he speaks really fast. No more than two unexcused absences allowed.

Prof Rogers is the MAN. I miss him more than any other prof @ URI. His breadth of knowledge on the most random subjects (ask him about cows in Switzerland having car insurance) is unbelievable! He will make you love French.

The quality of my current French class now definitely doesn't compare to my FRN 101. Dr. Rogers is kind of intense and expects a lot out of you for 101, but if you come prepared to class you learn SO MUCH!! I'm convinced he knows everything about everything. If you're struggling at all he's really helpful if you go to see him in his office!

Sweet man, makes fun of himself alot. You learn alot when you go to class and he'll drop hints on what is on the exams and quizzes. If you go to visit him for help he's very resourceful and helpful. Will give you the benefit of the doubt if he knows you're trying hard. You will learn alot from this class. GREAT GUY!!!

Rogers is a good guy. FRN101 is not a pushover with him. You need to pay attention in class and study for tests. Studying/practice needs to be done on your own time, as time in class will not be sufficient. Also, write down the tidbits he gives you of French culture; they will be bonus questions on exams.

Diffucult class. The book that you are required to read in 475 pages and the exams are very difficult. Very harsh grader but allows you to re-do papers and hand them back in. Expects you to know anything he asks off of the top of your head. Funny man, but hard class!

The best teacher I've had so far. He is a very nice man. His test are quite hard for a 101 class, nevertheless he will help you if you need it. He told me to come back and see him if I need any help with french 102...now how many professors would say that.Great Guy overall!!

I've had this professor for three classes so far (210, 201, 310) and plan to take more. He is far and away one of the best professors at URI. Passionate, helpful, hilarious, and INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. Always has student interests at heart while managing to teach with heart as well.
