Comment:
Very nice guy, but his lectures are a very boring. The homework assignments are lengthy, but there are some interesting problems to solve. The exams are also hard. The homework is individual and collaboration is not encouraged in this class, but I actually did better than I expected based on the curve at the end.

His lectures are overloaded with lots of information. Nine homework throughout the semester. Hw's are time-consuming. Tests are pretty hard and mostly conceptual. Never received the grade for the final exam on Blackboard so don't know how much he curves. There has to be a large curve because I ended up with an A which I did not expect. He is nice.

Nice guy but horrible professor. Lectures are the most BORING thing you will ever put yourself through, homework assignments are lengthy and confusing, and he expects you to be a master of this subject beforehand. Notes are online but in no way do the notes reflect the homework. Unless you know everything already, get ready to Google like crazy.

Comment:
This class is undergraduate level, although graduate level iteration of this class in MIT is easier, lectures shorter, and more easier to understand - make your conclusions. This professor doesn't respond to emails, and doesn't post exam dates on blackboard. Very boring and monotonous style of presentations, 95% theory class with hard math.

If you are interested in HPC, you are probably a lot better off taking COSC 6374 (Parallel Computations) with Edgar Gabriel. Gabriel gives good lectures as well, and his course is much more practical. Even the workload is a lot better.

Comment:
Johnsson knows his stuff. 6365 goes beyond introduction in lectures. There is information overload in the lectures. You can't absorb so much, and he covers a ton of material every class. In the beginning, it sounds straightforward and not too bad, but this class is hard with a heavy workload. You need good scripting skills to automate jobs.

Comment:
Professor Johnsson has a very boring teaching style. His exams are very difficult and does not curve them. He has 5-7 programming and written assignments, a midterm, and final. He does however curve at the end of the semester.

Comment:
I originally thought this class would be more practical. All theory and the prof is extremely monotone and dangerously boring. The most boring prof ever in the history of life. Way too much material to memorize for an intro class. He drags class on until the last minute. Take internet computing instead. Tests are full of trick questions, unclear.
