His lectures are soooo long and boring. He started taking attendance mid-way through since ppl stopped showing up. I never knew if it ever had any effect on our overall grade, I went to every one just in case. but his test are definitely hard but he will say they're "fair". BUT he does curve huge

He honestly isn't too bad. He gives assignments every week, and it helps with practicing the python. His tests are extremely hard, only 7 ppl would pass (70+), I got 40s on both of the tests this semester. Did pretty good on the assignments since i had help. and still passed the class with a B- So stick through the course, he curves big time

You will fail this class don't take it unless you're a pro at C++ you won't get anything done. He expects everyone to know C++ before taking the class.

This class is in no way a "fundamental" class. Yes, he will say that you need to take the time to study, but even with that "extra" time, those who haven't had an in-depth experience with coding most likely will have a difficult time. This class is not for students who have just started the basics. Textbook (& other resources) are lifesavers. NOPE.

This class is an easy A if you've taken any other programming language. The projects are great for testing your knowledge, but the exams can get a little tricky. I'd recommend self studying for this class. all lecture notes are posted online. This class places alot of responsibility on the student to go out and learn the material.

If you do not have experience in programming save yourself the money and trouble because you will probably fail. It is an intro class but he sure does not act like it. There is 11 assignment that get harder and more time consuming as the semester goes by. 2 tests and a final which are all very hard, people actually get zeros on his tests.

I took three years of computer science in high school & my high school teachers were far better than him. If you have no programming experience, get ready to study. He's not in depth or very thorough. Learn from the book and the assignments and study hard for the test. TA's are great use them as a resource. There's a curve so stay above the average

I don't understand all of the poor reviews. He says up front that this class is designed for CS majors and it really shows. The tests are very difficult for non majors but this gives everyone else a very nice curve. He is very easy to understand and straightforward in his lectures. The assignments are all short and easy and the workload is light.

11 Assignments, 2 Tests, and 1 Final. Curves based on the test averages, so above the average is a B to an A. Very challenging class if you have never programmed before. The ones who failed are the ones who did not do anything to prepare for the assignments and tests. Buy and read the book and STUDY A LOT. I got an A- and never programmed before.

Certainly not a blow off course, however, not bad at all. Read the book, review the slides, and really learn how to program with the assignments. Not an easy subject to teach and he did a pretty good job teaching. 11 hmwks, 2 tests, and a final. Some hmwks can take 10-15 hours, however, many quick and easy ones too. Stay above the avg - got A.

This is a very advanced course, considering its "intro". Not worth time or financial aid to go through the pain of this class. Useless lectures. HARD tests. Bad butt. No go. When you're an engineer you'll regret this class.

Very difficult. SuperHard Tests. Assignments aren't hard, but time consuming. 12-14hrs./week. TA's helpful (extensions, grading), but not good at explaining C++. Exams are free response and theres only 2 tests. Passable if you get 100s on Assignments and take advantage of bonus attendance, but no learning involved. Take another prof.

For an intro class this class was difficult. The homework was easy but the exams were Extremely difficult for an intro class. I failed the first two test (don't know what I made on the Final) only did a 7 out of the 11 homeworks and made a "C" so he curves the grades high. If your failing the test just stick with it because he curves big time.

As long as you are above the class average for tests and you do all your assignments, you will be fine. I got an A- and had never been exposed to programming in my life prior to taking the class.

Also, Even with my 8 - 16 on assignments, I never made lower than a 95. I definitely failed the tests badly, not sure if I'm going to end up passing though. Also, most of the TAs have heavy accents and are hard to understand but, my TA would allow extensions on assignments if you ever needed it. I wouldn't recommend this for Prof for beginners tho

He tries and lets you know that he understands some of us are complete beginners and some of us are experienced. But he teaches as if we already know what he is talking about. Tests are very hard. 80% of the class fails them without the curve. Assignments are very time consuming, not hard but took me 8-16 hrs and I had very little experience.

good professor, explained the assignments given, attempts animations to explain it. posts ppts online, although i think i learned more from the TA in the lab than from him, teasts are fairly difficult, some of it is covered but not the part asked, IE. CBR to funct'n w/ same varbl, covered CBR... overall he was good, but he doesent make it enjoyable

Old world professor, he seemed making the courses he teaches more difficult than helping students learn the subject matter. Avoid all the computer science courses he teaches.
