She devoted 5 minutes at the beginning of two different class meetings to explain a grade called FN- Failed unearned. Since the yr 2000 or so, the default grade at elite Uni's has been A- , so you have to screw up to get a B+. In contrast, KU leads the race to the bottom and almost all students aspire to simply "pass." Kind of pathetic, right?

Super passionate teacher who knows the ins and outs of the course like the back of her hand. I like art history enough to tolerate it, but I know that if I LOVED art history I would LOVE her. I had her for a sorta rough class between snow days and classmates, but that was out of her control. If you use quizlet and group your dates, you'll do fine.

Avoid. Admittedly, KU is not the most competitive admissions school but she goes out of her way to make a point of the shortcomings of students. She asks students in the middle of lecture what a word means--and they are not even SAT words just normal English language words. But the class is so apathetic that nobody will answer her.

Even for her 300 level courses, her students do not seem to know that a key part of writing an art history essay or research paper is to include images of the artwork being discussed. Total prof-fail if you ask me. Maybe she is just a magnet for bad students though

Norris is great, she definitely wants her students to succeed. Shes knows what shes teaching and makes it really interesting and engaging. Art history is usually hard in general but if you take good notes and study for the tests youll get a good grade. She gives easy homework and extra credit to boost your grade also. I loved her class.

Tends to send email over the weekend and even the day before class telling us that we have homework and providing the reading or video and questions for the first time, rather than at the previous class meeting. Seems more interested in serving on university committees than in teaching this class.

This woman is one of the most caring people Ive met here at Kutztown. Shes always emailing telling you whats coming up and what you need to study. Shes very accessible outside of class. She gives out so much extra credit its impossible to fail. You have to memorize a lot of paintings though so I recommend studying early.

I liked her! She was really sweet and Art History is something she's passionate about. It's a lot of memorization for tests so just don't wait until the night before to study

I love Professor Norris!! She cares so much about her students. We are graded on 4 100 point exams that have additional 5 (2 point) extra credit questions at the end. Just study/memorize for the exams and youll be fine! I got a 50 on the second exam but was able to still get an A because she gives multiple extra credit opportunities! Take her!!!!

Norris managed to make a dry art history course enjoyable. Likes to point out backstories/quirky details in artwork. Tests aren't bad if you show up to class and study the image list, but she grades papers hard. "Avoid vague like the plague." Also, don't bother buying the book. Just show up and participate and you'll be fine.

She makes each class interesting, but is awkward at times. Makes you work for your grade, if you don't show that you're putting in any effort, you will most likely do bad. Can be very intimidating and comes off rude, but is very smart and knows what she's talking about. Tough grader. Don't need to get the book!!!

the best thing about Norris is that she gives you a 15 year plus or minus on dates for art history tests. She can be nuts sometimes but it makes the class a little bit more fun. She will take a very famous painting and talk about it till you realize how funny it is or what the artist was thinking of was stupid. Interesting, but a good professor

She is a really sweet professor as long as you show that you care and work hard. Best advice is print out all the artwork on her ppt slides and memorize the name, artist and time period of each. You have to come to class and listen and take notes to do well. However as long as you study and attend class you should do really well. Plus extra credit.

I loved Professor Norris's class. She was so passionate about the subject at hand and that made all the difference. She was very knowledgeable and had actually experienced seeing the things she taught in person. The only difficulty is in studying all the pieces for the exams, but if you pay attention and you study hard you'll be fine.

One of my favorite professors to date. She made art history really interesting. As long as you attend class and study really hard before her exams, you'll do fine. The books she suggests are a good guide but I didn't open mine once. Her exams are all memorization so be ready to remember a lot of paintings.

She's nice, not too difficult. For exams you are shown several paintings that you have to answer various questions. None of which were very in depth. She uses D2L to post slideshows and grades. I wish more professors would do that. No curve and 1 bonus assignment. You always know where you stand grade-wise.
