Comment:

The best instructor at SMC. Her philosophy is very simple -pay attention to lectures and prepare for assignments. Anyone who's consistent can find themselves getting referrals for relevant opportunities. Those who sleep, read, or talk during lectures eventually face harsh consequences without being called out in front of the class.

Ivas is amazing! Her lectures are a little repetitive and hard to get through but as long as you show effort you should pass. You need the book for the tests but reading it isn't necessary . She's always available and will let you take quizzes you miss etc. Easy to pass as long as you pay attention.

Lorrie is super sweet and understanding! She gives you feedback and is clear on what she wants in class projects. Talks a lot and can go off topic but she knows a lot about fashion and provides resources like fashion books for students to read. Easy A if you literally turn in everything you're supposed to and come to class. I have taken her 3 times

Lorrie Ivas is my Best professor ever! She knows her subject, loves fashion, shares her knowledge and connections with students. She is very stylish by herself and absolutely inspirational! LOVE her!!! Happy to have such professor in my life! HIGHLY recommend her!

Best professor at SMC fashion department. She knows a lot about the business of fashion and wants her students to know it too. With her, you will stay aware of all current news in the business of fashion because she knows everything!!! She really cares about her students and loves her job.

Professor Ivas or Lorrie as I like to call her is absolutely amazing. I took her for Fashion 1 & 2 and she is just filled with kindness and is great. I like to think of her as a mentor. Helps you out if you need it, and is just overall wonderful.

Really unclear. She begins every class with looking at the class schedule for ONE hour (3 h class!!) so we miss a lot of time to cover important stuff. Everything is just a blurr. Pretty easy A though, if you do your research well. But would take another teacher over her any day.

Took intro to advertising class. Yeah she's nice, yes all the exams are open book...but she isn't great at teaching and the classes can be tough to sit through. A lot of fun projects that may seem tedious but are good at being grade boosters. Overall a good, informative class. She's very scattered but is nice and understanding.

She definitely knows what she's talking about but I didn't find her being an excellent teacher. I felt that classes where more lectures of namedropping and rambling than actually learning something. But I would still recommend her, she isn't a bad teacher. I just didn't learn much about advertising, except for the stuff I read in the book.

What an awesome teacher to have for Fashion 1 @ SMC! She maximizes class time with her wealth of knowledge as an industry professional & textbook author. I never rate professors, but Lorrie I just HAD to rate. Have taken other classes with her as well, and she is the absolute best professor I have ever had at SMC.She loves her job and is great at teaching. She assigns fun projects and is very helpful. Would recommend EVERYONE to take one of her classes.
