Amazing professor. Dr. Orto really loves what she does and is willing to help students. I really learned a lot in Issues in Contemporary Design. Many interesting topics covered in class and enjoyable lectures. Comment:

History of Graphic Design was amazing! Best art history lecture I've taken in my life. It counts as one of your upper level arth courses and I believe they are including it in the required classes before you can apply for block soon.

I took History of Graphic Design and it was honestly the best Art History experience I've ever had? She's enthusiastic and makes lectures interesting and easy to follow. Her exams are taken from her lecture and you keep a "journal" which is basically the easiest grade I've gotten since entering college (especially for a design major). Take her!

such a lovely & nice woman! i was not interested but she made it awesome, no textbook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just take great notes and study them! you learn a lot, quick grader! lots of feedback, so nice to the students! dismisses early often, 5 pg paper can kinda be a pain, but super awesome lady, would totally take again, i love her & miss her dearly ;_;

I was not excited but her lectures and enthusiasm is infectious. Orto is so pretty and nice and clear and the class was total cake. You don't have to buy a textbook! Just show up and take good notes and the tests will be easy. Your writing may improve a bit. I would definitely take her again. Dismisses early often! TAKE HER. I miss her.

This was the last Art History course to finish off my Art History minor. I don't know why I'm barely taking her. I wish I could've taken some of her classes sooner. AMAZING prof! She teacher as if telling a story. She keeps you interested. HANDS DOWN my favorite Art History prof ever! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Go to class, you'll more than likely pass!

Prof. Orto is AWESOME! Love her. Great personality, great teaching style, speaks well, very professional. Class is lecture and discussion, but the material is interesting. Lots of art-related field trips. Nearly every student showed up to class 99% of the time, so that should speak volumes.

I highly recommend taking every class Prof Orto teaches. If you are at all interested in design (maybe even if you don't think you are), you will love her classes. She is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and enthusiastic about design. That she is kind, attractive and chic just makes class that much more enjoyable. Not at all pretentious.

art/design history class taught in architecture college. she's extremely helpful, responsible too. she lectures clearly, often with full passion for art. class lasts about 50 minutes. three in-class essays, two presentations of your or your selected designs. two field trips, to MFA or furniture store. grades are easy. she loves her students.

Very enthusiastic, very professional, very good speech quality, very well read. She is one of the few that teaches ID at UH. Her classes are very interesting, but on the fine art side rather than mainstream industrial design (her studies were fine arts). Not very knowledgable of current design practices. Essay-based class, just SHOW UP!

A little pretentious but not irritating or arrogant--just a very nice professor who loves to teach and loves design. Her tests are essays but not terribly difficult. Doesn't require you to be specific with tons of details-just clear on overall themes. I don't find design all that interesting but I love her class anyway. One 5-10 page paper.

I think she may be new at teaching,she seems to lose her place if interrupted. Loves her subject, dedicated, approachable and very kind. Talk to her outside class and get to know her--she will guide you and work with you.Great handouts, etc.
