Comment:
Prior to enrolling, I met several students whose research advisers cautioned them not to take BIOL 412 with Dr. Jefferson. Her teaching philosophy is that the students are there to serve her & not the other way around. She comes in from one class meeting to another expressing severe mood swings. On several occasions she stormed into class yelling.

No Final, Midterm or book! Class is based on 2 ind case studies and 2 group case studies. Final group presentation, your choice of topic. Group evaluations are part of your grade. Very picky on details on assignments. Just follow her directions. Can be rude if you ask too many questions. Loves participation in class. Lecture is her own material.

Ridiculously strict. Will not answer questions. I have 0 respect for her as a person, and only a little for her as a teacher. I have seen multiple students holding back tears as she yells at them for asking a "stupid" question (usually just clarification)

Professor Jefferson was probably one of my favourites. Yeah, she is tough, strict, and can yell from time to time. But honestly? If you show her respect, follow instructions, etc., she can be really cool. Just don't make stupid mistakes, don't talk out of line, be mature, and you'll be fine. Also? FOLLOW. INSTRUCTIONS.

I should have got an A because I did study hard for this class and put my effort on the presentation. However, she just ridiculously took off points from evaluations (which u have to evaluate other groups or ur group), and asked questions that were not in the lecture. The class is extremely boring, confusing, and did not help me learn anything!

Dr Jefferson is quite rude and yells a lot... she makes you feel stupid sometimes...don't worry tho, as long as you do her review questions and go over her power point lectures you should be fine. there are 2 midterms, 2 quizzes and a final. no need to get the book.

Dr. Jefferson is a good professor, even though she may seem temperamental. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY! Check Blackboard at least 3 times a week. Make friends in that class because they will help you get a better grade and this class involves lots of group work anyway. The final isn't that bad so don't be nervous for it. Always go to class!

While she may be rigid and strict, the class was pretty easy. You just need to check Blackboard every so often. And do the bonus activities!!!!

The topic is not so hard as long as you do the problems. This is a 300 level class so she expects you to know your stuff and study on your own. Test and quizzes are not bad as long as you do her hw problems and practice exams. People mostly complain because she is a harsh grader and doesnt give partial credit. Labs are fun. She gives extra credit.

one of the worst professors i have ever had. she is extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. if your the type of person who likes to ask questions and seeks the profesors help do not take a class her. she will not help you and will only make you feel stupid.

If you have military experience, you'll be able to handler her drill sergeant ways. On Exam Days she would yell at straggling student's coming into class for the first 30 minutes of the test... STRESSFUL-making it hard to concentrate. She pretty much mumbles through the lecture... Exams are tough! STUDY hard and you should be fine.

Yes she's hard and can get very nasty, but She teaches you a lot. I had her for Biol 103 as well. In genetics, she pushed us to learn what the hell we were reading and the lab was fun. If you came prepared to learn, she was willing to help. Those who complain about her teaching skills are obviously the ones who got bad grades. Next time study.

Jefferson is not as bad as people make her seem for genetics at least. I think she's worse in bio 100B, which I also had with her. For genetics, it really helps to do the practice problems she gives. If you don't practice genetics problems you will not pass!! Her tests are fair and straight forward. Don't be afraid to take her.

Terrible teacher. not accomodating. Condescending, doesn't seem familiar with her own slides (mispronounces disease/enzyme names and mumbles so that we can't hear it). can learn a lot if interested in the topic, but its mainly on your own. doesn't make the class interesting. plays favorites, gets angry if you see her without making an appointment

had her for 340, genetics. it's a super easy class- do the example problems she gives you (guaranteed the same exact problems with different numbers will be on the exam). study your quizzes- they are typically harder than her exams. pay attention and don't ask stupid questions, you'll be fine. don't be scared to ask her for help.

Jefferson is very dedicated, yet takes things too seriously. Don't be offended or scared if she yells a lot, as she has a habit of doing so. But overall, she is a caring and nice professor.
