I took Prof. Dettman's HB A&P one class and LOVED her! She made learning the material fun. Minimal homework, a lot of open lab time provided so you can go over the muscles, bones etc. Lab practicals are straight from the box and mastering anatomy. Lecture exams are tough. She posts A TON of lectures and links to outside resources for help,

Comment:

I loved Dr. Dettman. She was a great teacher and taught in a way that got the whole class to understand and remember the material. She keeps you engaged and makes it interesting, and she loves to connect the lecture with stories to make it easier to memorize.

Outstanding professor! Very smart and lectures are super clear helpful and interesting! Have taken anatomy before and she really gets the information to you clearly. you will learn a lot and remember it! tests and practicals are very fair. Gives a lot of helpful material and resources on canvas outside of class. wish I could take her for AP II!

Comment:

The class itself requires a lot of studying and memorization. I took the lab in class and the lecture online. She is super nice and willing to help. Tests are reasonable but kind of all over the place within the chapters. Replaces lowest exam grade with final exam grade.

She is a nice professor but at times she can be rude. She stops quite often in her lectures to rant on about personal stories. This professor also gives group quizzes, which is unfair because your grade depends on others. she expects you to learn things on your own. She takes long to post grades and to reply back to messages.

A&P I is a hard course, however, she is truly a great teacher! An A is most certainly attainable, but you will have to work for it. You can not be lazy in this course. She is always there to help when you need it all you have to do is ask. I would definitely take her class again! You learn A LOT and it is generally interesting.

Hard class, but she was a great professor. Records her lectures and posts them for you and gives you plenty of review material. You MUST study. Go to class, review back on her material and you'll be fine. Lots of homework to help boost grade. Wish I could take her for A&P II.

Best teacher I've ever had. CLASS IS TOUGH. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. STUDY. Nothing is given to you but if you work hard this is an obtainable A and definitely B. Had her for Gen Bio and A&PI. Wish I could of had her for A&PII. Easily has to be one of the best teachers at Seminole State. If you put in the effort for her she will do the same for you!

i took her for a bterm class. It was an easy class super simple. I picked up the textbook once through the entire class. you really dont need the textbook for the online class because she gives you notes. Other than that its easy and painless class.

Awesome instructor! This was a distance learning course and had lab in class. She explains everything and gives plenty of study material. Tests can be tricky but are easy if you read the chapter. She gives enough assignments to keep grade up and allows late work. She wants you to pass and understand the material. Read chapter along with ppt!

I was super excited going in and very disappointed coming out. The quizzes seem very poorly worded and are short only 5-7 questions long. READ everything assigned, nothing is just for "fun" despite somethings being addressed that way. Expect lots of broken links, I dont think its the professor I think its the online course! NEVER again!

Wow. I really dreaded the thought of biology but with Mrs. Dettman teaching, it was a breeze! She really goes over information in well put together powerpoints. the quizzes and tests are easy if you learn the basic meanings. the exams don't focus on small details. she makes jokes and keeps the class laughing!! BEST BIOLOGY TEACHER! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Great online Driected Studies Biology Class. Just 1 grade point, but it is worth taking. Online presentations are interactive and it covers a lot of material you will need for A&P. I recommend this class.

Her class is relatively easy compared to other professors. She doesn't give clear notes, expects you to figure out what to teach yourself, and at times can be really rude and goes off on tangents about other things. Overall, I'm glad I took her but probably wouldn't take her again.

I had her for Bio and Anatomy. She was great in Bio because she did make it easier to understand, however, for Anatomy it was completely different. She doesn't really give notes, she just talks and you have to figure out whats important, which make studying for the test even harder; no dropped grades. I had to drop the class cause I was failing

Dr. Dettman is the best instructor I've ever had. She is ver helpful and really cares about her students. Her class is really fun. She uses different teaching methods that makes the whole class actually interact with the new material. That's why I registered with her for A&P2

This teacher is crazy hard. I took her online class and there is no textbook just a genome book you read chapters from. She has a crazy amount of power points and articles each week for you to read, and the quizzes/exams seem to be tricky. I did terrible and im an average A student.

This class is crazy hard.. there are SOOOOOO many things to read and the tests are impossible.. I was super excited to take this class and feel miserable now that I see how much work it is. If you have other priorities such as a FT job or kids, do not take this class. If you love science then sure it's a lot of information.
