Seriously, the worst Spanish class I have ever taken. The reading materials are incredible (but I may be biased since I am a lit major) but he finds a way to ruin them by not allowing any alternative interpretation. Never actually answers any of the questions asked of him. Gives you "homework" the night before the class. Constantly 2 weeks behind o

No idea how he got to be a professor.The class has no structure and he cannot stay on topic to save his life.He offers little time for participation, yet attacks people who do have comments. He grades hard even tho it's his fault we don't understand the material we are reading. I love Spanish, but he speaks in English 60% of the time. Useless class

Our personalities clashed terribly. I did not find him at all funny, though he thought he was hilarious. Every day was a new random tangent that had absolutely nothing to do with the class topic. Waste of my time.

Comment:

Gets easily off topic and rambles on in English, so the class falls behind on the reading schedule very quickly. He can often be derisive of a student's comment, so don't take it personally. What is relevant to the material, however, is very interesting. Exams are very long, so keep an eye on your time.

This man does not teach very much. He's very intelligent, to be sure, but he's a poor professor. This semester, post mid-term, we got TWO WEEKS BEHIND. He figured this out THREE weeks before classes ENDED and made us work doubletime to catch up. Also, though he can interpret the works we read well, he didn't do much to stay on task. DO NOT TAKE!

Comment:

The easiest Spanish class I've ever taken. However, I was also incredibly frustrated every day with this profs teaching style. I didn't learn much about modern lit, but did learn lots about football players, New York, and how our classroom smelled like an armpit. Every day. To improve your Spanish or learn about literature, take another course.

Comment:

Aside from not being a good teacher at all, he is a very smart man with many stories. He usually tells those stories in English / doesn't teach much. Participation was about 30% of the grade so that was hard because all of his talking made it difficult for anyone else to get a word in. Needless to say, I am no longer a fan of modern Spanish lit.

-Did insult students whenever they comment -+goes off on random tangents but very interesting -difficult selections for reader +good prep for exams. always talks about new york, modern movies, or his trip to spain. vast knowledge of latin, french, and other spanish works. incredible guy but not the best if you want to learn a ton about spanish lit.

Nice guy and very interesting, however he spent about an hour of each class on the most random things that had nothing to do with the class material. We didn't cover much, but tests were easy as long as you pay attention in every class.

He made me hate Spanish. The material is good if you like literature and I did good on tests, but 30% of grade is participation. However, he never gives anyone a chance to talk since he goes on random tangents for about 60 of the 75 minutes that have nothing to do with Spanish. My biggest concern was how he insulted students, makes you feel stupid.

What a biggot!! He spends the majority of classes ripping on minority groups. Very confusing and makes odd interpretations of lit. Doesn't follow syllabus. Without knowing it, he demeans students for a wrong answer in class.
