Dr. Nestell's P.D.E. class is difficult but it was worth it in the end cause I learned quite a lot on both ordinary and partial differential equations. He's fair and willing to help you succeed granted that you work hard for it. Study HW & lecture notes, and go to his lectures cause he gives in-class quizzes. His class is worth every penny I spent

Best teacher at UTA. I took him for paleo, carbonate petrology and differential equations. He is a tough grader but very fair. Go to class and make sure you visit him in office hours. He really cares and has an open door policy. Take him before he retires. He is extremely knowledgeable and will work with you if given notice and you put in work.

First off, attendance is mandatory and used for final grade distribution. The tests are hard but he is fair. If you can show that you are putting in the work you will do well. Grades are based on a scale and you compete for letter grades. Most people got 60's on the tests but ended up with a B. He is probably the best teacher at UTA.

P.D.E. is probably one of the hardest courses you can take at UTA, but if you put in the effort it's not too difficult to pass. It requires you to read the textbook regularly, attend every lecture, and regularly work on the homework. You CAN'T procrastinate on the homework you will struggle if you do, if you study the HW & class notes it's not bad.

Tough class. You need to practice the homework a lot to do well. Attend lecture, take notes well, and pay attention to hints he may give. He will ask you to reproduce specific definitions/concepts he has gone over. Does curve quite a bit so that most people can pass as long as they put in some effort.

Hardest math class Ive ever taken, but Dr. Nestell is very understanding and willing to help. Homework is extra credit on exams but you need to do it to understand the material. I wouldnt take his class again, still dont know how I passed! If you dont show up he will not bump your grade if you need it. Take him for geology maybe not math.

Hes a great teacher & is very calming to approach. His syllabus is very straightforward but he does offer different things to the class for extra credit (points for tests). He does give a lot of homework and attend since he counts it as a grade, but also mentions what will be on the tests. During office hours he is a caring teacher and helps you

Im very unsure about his geology, but the mans differential equations class is horrid. Dont expect anything in the homework to show up on the test. Dont expect yourself to pass without stringent studying of the whole book. Be prepared to get a C with a 50% in the class. Wish I could have taken another Professor.

He is an outstanding teacher and won't let you leave his class without learning something. He's not going to give you an easy A, but if you make an effort you'll be very grateful with the knowledge you acquired. He's kind of a tough grader, but he'll tell you what's going to be on the tests. If you study and do the homework, you'll be fine.

PDE was the hardest class I have ever taken (Dr. Nestell told us that he didn't truly understand the material until he started teaching it & he is a GENIUS), but I was very lucky to have taken it w/ him. He understands the material very well and conducts his lectures clearly. He is clear on what his tests will cover. The best prof I have ever had.

Dr. Nestell is an amazing professor. He is very passionate about his teaching, & he makes sure that his students really learn. Attendance is not required, however, attending class is the most useful way to learn the material. He is very clear on what he will test over & is always available if you need help. Easy passing grade IF you put in the work

He's not a horrible professor, but this was a tough class. Almost all of class time is spent doing examples, and he's very monotonous so it's easy to get lost. The only grades are the exams and final, which are all difficult and require a LOT of studying. The homework is "optional" but it helps prepare for the exam and is extra credit for the exam

Difficult test, unless you pay attention to his lectures. See him after class in his office and he will be there for you. He will hint to topics in lectures that you can guarantee to be on the test. Show up to his class, your good, go to his office afterwards and ask questions, your golden.

Tests are tough. Lectures can be pretty analytic. Attendance to every class is highly recommended. But the professor is a nice guy. If he sees that you care and you're trying your best, he will help you out. My advice is don't just learn how to do the problems. Study what he says in lectures.

Dr. Nestell is one of my favorite professors ever. His teaching is a little abstract, and you have to earn his respect academically before he starts to like you.Loves to see students try and attend class. He has NO mercy for those that don't attend. There's a large curve, and gives bonus for homework and attendance. His teaching is a pretty abstract.

He is fair. Show up for class, do the homeworks and take good notes. Even though I worked my rear off in his class, and got a bad grade, that is no reflection on him as an instructor. I would take him again!

A very difficult class while you take it, I failed the first test and never made more than 83% on the others. However, I showed up everyday and did the little quizzes and walked out with a most improbable "A". It's a difficult class but the curve is really curvy and makes up for a lot.

Took this class as a science elective and found it pretty boring. The beginning of the class was pretty boring with the chapters over rocks. He discouraged tardiness and skipping by giving simple quizzes right when class starts. These are easy way to boost your grade if you look over the last lecture's slides prior to class. Its all memorization

This teacher is one of the most helpful. He encourages you to ask questions and is always available after class. As long as you keep up with the homework and lectures, you won't have any problems. I got an "A" in his course. Grades are curved and attendence helps you too.
