Comment:
Dr. Firmin is rather arrogant and doesn't show interest in students. The teacher's assistants are also really rude and inconsistent with grading the mandatory notes. Tests are weighted heavily, but if you do well you will be fine. Don't ask for help from prof because you won't receive any from him. Do not recommend any classes from this prof!

Overall, this class was interesting. However, Professor Firmin doesn't seem to care about his students. He talks down to students and treats everyone like they are still in high school. Would not take this class again with the same prof or any other classes taught by him. Tests are 90% of the grade so you will be fine if you have time to study.

Don't ask questions in class. Firmin will interrupt you, then arrogantly answer if it fits into his lecture time. His class policy is to treat his students like children, but his tests are very easy. Read over your notes/the study guide a few times and you'll be set.

Comment:
Dr. Firmin is incredibly arrogant and often talks down to students. His class is easy enough, but much of what he says seems outdated. He also frequently uses Scripture out of context and takes theological positions that are directly opposed to what my Bible profs have taught. I would not take him again Sadly he's the only option for general psych

Fulfilled his promise at the beginning of class to make it INTRESTING. Went over all of the course material in an in gaging and interesting manner. Did a good job of getting the class involved in the lectures, and made things fun. This class convinced me to become a Psychology Major.

Dr. Firmin wants his students to succeed and most of the exam questions come straight from the study guide so this makes it pretty easy to get an A in the class. I had some issues with the TA but the prof was great. He promises that the class will interest you and he delivers.

Professor Firmin promised the first day of class that the Gen Psych class would the most interesting class we took that semester. And he delivered on that promise. Each lecture he gave understandable examples which helped us to grasp the concepts. Also, 75% of the exam questions are from the study guide so he basically sets you up for success.

Dr. Firmin is a great prof and he does an excellent job of keeping his lectures interesting, but the tests take a lot of prep! Other than the reading and the really intense study guide (like 140 questions per chapter), this was one of the most interesting classes and I would definitely recommend Dr. Firmin

While not exactly an easy A, expectations are very clear. The grade is entirely based on exams, notes, and attendance, along with one side project. The exam questions are primarily taken from the study guides which makes it easier to study. It is also imperative that you read the assigned textbook reading because you will be penalized otherwise.

Thought the class was fairly easy - really not that hard as long as you do the study guides. I felt that the prof was very insensitive. He showed a video of a man describing what it was like to have depression, made jokes about the man, and laughed about it. Not helpful in reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Firmin is one of my favorite professors at Cedarville. He allows 4 skips per semester but I didn't use one since his lectures are so interesting. His class isn't hard at all. You still have to do the reading, but around 75% of the exam questions are in the study guide.

IF YOU TAKE PSYCH, TAKE FIRMIN! He's hilarious and super helpful. The class does involve a lot of reading, and the study guide generally has about 120 questions per chapter and normally there is a 50 question test (multiple choice) every 2 chapters or so. But Dr. Firmin makes it worth it. He loves his students and you can't help but love him!

Dr. Firm is a great Psychology teacher. He gives all tests based off of a study guide which is very long, but if you do it you are almost guaranteed an A in his class. You must read from the textbook for each test and give a statement saying you do so. Firmin plays a lot of videos and tells tons of stories. Take his class!
