Hovde is a great guy, but if you want to be taught anything about the Arctic don't expect to be. You read parts of novels and barely talk about them in class. The class was dull and made me despise every time he said we were going to have "fun". After the lecture on the importance of humor in an Arctic Government class, I gave up on caring.

Hovde is a great guy. He knows his stuff, and sometimes gets lost in stories. however, these stories are from life and tend to be useful, and if not, at least entertaining. He's very unorganized, however, he makes everyone (even if they didn't plan to be) interested in the material. I am taking 2 classes from him next sem. and am super excited!

took his leadership for sustainability and took a few environmental classes from him. lots of books, but they're good. Don't be afraid to have an opinion, he will hear you out, liberal or conservative. He teaches in real life situations and is super interesting every lecture.hard tests,that are on the readings solely. READ THE BOOKS! Learned a ton

I took Dr. Hovde's Leadership for Sustainability Inquiry class and I really liked it. It was a lot of lecture and war stories, but he really made me think about what my actions mean for everyone else around me. He opened my eyes to how dysfunctional the US is, and it really made me a more informed student. Now I just need to BREW!

Dr. Hovde was wonderful. I didn't read any of his required books (though he assigned enough reading for my college career), but found every lecture entertaining (even if I made it so myself by drawing). He just wants you to evaluate the world and voice your opinion. I am conservative (he's very liberal) and I voiced my opinions and still got an A.

Great guy, fun in class. Scatterbrained and disorganized but relates class teachings with real life (and often personal) experiences. I had him for Leadership and enjoyed it. Be engaged in discussions. You know where he stands, but he is indeed fair. He was interested in seeing us develop and become inspired leaders. I never read, but I did fine.

Awesome guy! Peter always has a smile on his face and strives to understand and relate to his students' viewpoints and opinions. Remember to read, though. He doesn't go through the reading in class very often. Overall, he's an awesome guy with tons of relatable and interesting stories.
