Took this class for art course credit & loved it. Would take again if needed. Laid-back professor/class. Lectures are entertaining (youtube videos, funny stories, music history/information, etc.) while being relevant to our generation. Work for the course is minimal, but he recognizes your attendance/participation (don't go to class, won't pass).

This was not a class that I was interested in until Professor Farris began his series of lectures. Whether or not someone likes the class is dependent on whether or not the information he gives resonates with ones interests. I found the info astonishing. I also felt that Dr. Farris understood the situation of sleep deprived engineer.

Really easy teacher. Understood that majority of students were taking the class because they had to as a general requirement. Tried to teach some general music information, but didn't make it very hard. Definitely take him if you can!

If your tenure at Dayton were to be compared to an intimate act between two people, then this class would be equivalent to the climax. His experimental policy with our class was to offer us no test in exchange for writing 3 papers during the course of the term. I played on my computer on slow days.
