He not a teacher, he's a one man show! He will probably tell you everyday about his shirt that he bought from Costco and tell you about the parties he throws. But really you take the class for the teacher. Not the easiest class but he curves the quizzes and offers extra credit!

If you want to learn economics - take someone else. Professor Hummell is more concerned with his stories of wealth, foster kid, and political views then actually teaching. He doesn't try hard to be a good professor. So if you want to be lazy, take him. If you want to listen to a liberal who hates America - take him. Mesa is always second to USD

I have had Professor Hummell twice and I wish I could have him again. All the requirements to pass his class are laid out for you. If you some how do not pass his class it is definitely not his fault at all. At times yes he can wonder off to other subjects, but it's really nothing more than a little break from the lecture.

Nice guy in general but quite into himself. Get ready to sit down to long lectures hearing about his life. Hard to learn material when he gets sidetracked. I personally wouldn't take him again, even for an easy grade. Quizzes are graded very heavily, so make sure you read and he allows a index card to be used for it. Curves quizzes for low scores.

He doesn't really teach, he is more of a story teller. 5 exams online, quizzes every week(in class) and offers extra credit. If accounting is your thing then his class would be ok to take, if not do not bother taking it with him.

so ray does talk a lot about his life and gets off topic but overall i enjoyed it. i was not interested in economy at all and he made me understand and love the subject. if you do the homeworkreading material and do good on the quizzes you will do good in the class. he also stays after class if you need any extra help. i would definitely recommend

It was like an online class; quizzes and homework. I just attended class for lecture. He gets a little bit off track but I think he is great. He is so cool and he knows about this stuff. Honestly this class is so easy just do homeworks and quizzes and you'll be doing great.

The teacher is awful---ignorant, offensive, arrogant, and lazy. Was a huge waste of time to go to class. Every negative comment on this website is consistent with the truth---Ray talks about his personal life for most of the class, loves to bash Christians and conservatives, and makes lots of ignorant statements fueled by his personal politics.

I dont understand how Ray has ever gotten a bad review? I am not a fan of accntg but he actually made it enjoyable for me. He was such a nice helpful understanding teacher I would take him again! You do have to work in his class..but put in a little effort and you will get at least a B probably an A. I would def recommend him !! Rays the best!!

Probably the greatest teacher I've even had. Very funny and opinionated, know Accounting very well, and is very good at teaching it. I had no interesting in accounting prior to this class, but it was so good I am taking more classes in it. I Would highly recommend him.

he rarely(if ever) lectures about class material, but always finds a way to talk for the entire 3 hour night class. He is a bleeding heart liberal who goes on and on about his adopted boy, USD, His wealth, and things he has done(boring) he will also state Liberal propaganda as fact, and never lets an opportunity to badmouth America slip.Easy tho.

Here is the deal, I agree with most of the comments posted before. Yes he gets off topic quite a bit...but class is rediculously easy!!! The quizzes, midterm and final are all take home open book. Class time 6-910 but never stayed past 8. If you need help just stay after class meaning after 8 and you will get all you need.
