Comment:

Best Design I and II teacher! Expects a reasonable level of proficiency of concepts in assignments but will allow for make-ups, do overs. She really loves what she does and is wonderful at helping others to understand and learn about design concepts of space, color, and much much more. Very informative and interesting subject matter!! Fun!!

She teaches with simple clarity. Students come out with knowledge and don't know when they got it. Accepts differences with respect. Likes working with students. Observes her students (not hastingly). Grades fairly. You have to show effort, but will not be punished if you're not Picasso. Inspires students with different examples. Excellent teacher.

I now have a BFA in photo, and have to say of all my professors Kamen was the best studio art teacher I ever had. If you want a understandment of design, and want to enter the art field or apply to another school with a well-rounded portfolio then take her classes.Ten years later of all the art framed on my walls, they are from Prof. Kamen's class.

Very easy teacher if you're creative. She lets you use you're creativity in your own way--doesn't teach with a cookie-cutter mentality towards art. If you're a 3D person then def. take her, all her encouragement and advice tend towards going beyong the page and into the 3rd dimension. CLIFF NOTE: take this teacher, best art teacher i've had.

Run, don't walk, and sign up for her courses NOW. She will bring out the artist in you. Her standards are higher than most at NOVA, but her enthusiasm is contagious enough to make even the toughest work bearable.
