Comment:

Can hardly hear him during class and he tests specific content you can barely hear him say in lecture. You need to know every single graph and every single experiment and be able to manipulate the data and build your own graphs. Basically a statistics course. Content is pretty straightforward but the tests are not. My worst class and glad its done

Comment:

very boring lecturer, which is rough when you have to sit through 3 hours of it. But his tests are pretty well structured. Weekly quizzes mean you actually have to read the textbook, but his midterms and exam are more about understanding than memorization. If you don't understand something, good luck because he isn't very good at explaining.

He's clearly very passionate about his work, and he says some pretty funny things in lecture. But he talks really quietly and has a thick accent so he can be hard to understand - make sure you try and sit close. Also his tests can be really hard

Comment:

Dukas is a pretty terrible professor but an awesome supervisor. He has an accent and speaks very quietly, but it very passionate about his work. He comes across as rude sometimes because he doesn't really care if you're interested/engaged or not. You only need the textbook for pre-lecture quizzes and the occasional test question.

The content of the class was not very difficult, however, very textbook heavy. A lot of his test questions come from graphs in the textbook, but also included bonus questions. Cares a lot about his research and not as much about teaching. He included an exam question on a topic he said would not be covered. Beware of Bayes' theorem.

Dr. Dukas is fantastic! He is very funny and super passionate about his field. I had him for night class and you really don't get bored with him. Amazing course and relatively easy.

Tests are super easy, likes to show funny videos, very approachable, makes a lot of jokes. Definitely one of the better profs at Mac. Content is easy.

He's alright. He is extremely monotone and goes way too quickly over important information. He is obsessed with graphs, which is annoying. He is sometimes funny though.

Dukas is one of the better profs at Mac, I thorougly enjoyed his classes because he has a good sense of humour. His slides are clear, he likes posting videos that are more entertaining than actually testable material, and his tests are straightforward. He's not trying to get you like some other profs...

This class was awesome - if you expect to memorize and reguritate material then its definitely not for you. But if you have a brain and you like to use it, you'll learn some amazing stuff. Plus he does resemble Mick Jagger!

HORRIBLE PROF! He is very UNHELPFUL and because of the fact that he talks in a very low voice and has an accent, it is often extremely difficult to decipher what he is saying. Course seems easy but he makes it extremely tough. Test material seemed very unfair. DO NOT TAKE THE COURSE WITH HIM!!!

Dr. Dukas is very funny, very clever and very pleasant to listen to. The lectures were well organized and his focus was actually on our learning. If you just go to every lecture and listen, you will do well in 2tt3. Highly recommended prof.

It was a great class with interesting lectures. His questions were tricky if you aren't used to be asked application questions. Instead of it being just memorization, he expected you to think.. which is good for an upper year course. Highly recommended!

Definitely a course I would recommend. While he did not seem very nice, he is very funny. The material is highly interesting and course attendance is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Textbook was barely used.

true, his accent made him unclear at times, but he was overall a good prof who was enthusiastic about teaching and about the course material. his tests were meant to test your ability to apply the information instead of just regurgitation, which is why some found them hard. one downside was the final exam was 60 ques and worth 60% of your mark.

HORRIBLE PROF!! He just reads everything off the slides, which are totally unclear. His questions are so hard & irrelevant....as if we've done a PhD in evolution or something! Whether you read his lecture notes or the book, nothing helps cause his questions are just outta the blue : (

He is definately NOT hot. I felt he was unfair on what he tested, as some of it seemed to be out of the blue. He really expected you to have memorized every little detail in the textbook and lecture. I still don't know the answer to the treefrog question was.
