Comment:
Although he was a bit intimidating at first, Professor Hwang is a caring professor who is well-read on accounting. This class was one of the more difficult classes I have taken in college. My advice is to simply study hard and come to class prepared. It is a somewhat easy class to pass if you put in the required work.

At the beginning of the course, he might seem harsh and mean but as the semester goes on, you'll realize that he just really wants his students to pass. He gives out extra credit at the end of each test and is easily accessible outside of class. Be sure to study before each weekly quiz because he heavily uses the textbook and homework questions.

Many people say this class is impossible but it's all about the time and effort you put in. To get a good grade, you must read every single chapter covered in class and study for every quiz! Professor Hwang is great and tells you exactly how to succeed. Do every homework & read the chapters because that will help you on the tests!!

He may scare you on the first day, but stick with it. He truly wants you to pass the class. Be prepared to teach yourself some material, but don't hesitate to see him for help. If you understand the practice quiz problems at the end of the chapter as well as the homework, you should do fine on the weekly quizzes and exams. The book is necessary.

Hw is not test and you don't learn how to do problems from class or even from book. Quizzes are identical to back of book practice problems. TONS of extra credit take opportunities. Allows notecard with equations for exams. Doesn't teach in class very well just goes over pp's. Prepare for lectures on how poorly you do. He's fun to get to know

Comment:
Class is easier than systems as there's only HW&Exams. The 1st 2 exams are fair if you understand hw, book charts, and PP, but the Final is brutal. He teaches you everything you need to know in lecture. If you've taken Styles, Hwang is definitely the better professor. At least Hwang goes over hw that is relevant to exam. Flexible office hours too.

Avoid this professor at all cost! You will spend the first 30 minutes of class listening to him ramble about the same thing over and over again (that isn't related to accounting!) When he lectures he basically just reads the power point, that he didn't make, without explaining the material. If you get him, good luck... seriously you'll need it!

Has an accent, but ask for clarity . No brown nosing required like many believe. I didn't. Didn't have time to go to his office cuz of internship. But def helped, the 1 time I went. Did mediocre on most projects Bs and Cs but did all HW. Learn the HW completely or memorize it, JUST GET IT IN YOUR HEAD for exams. As difficult as ACCT301 with Styles.

Great professor! An traditional professor, who require you to do homework in pencil. Attendance is mandatory, and not going to the class may result in failing the exams. Definitely visit him during his office hours, and his exam is totally reasonable if you attend class, take good notes, and committed, this class should be somewhat a smooth sailing

HIs test are not easy by any means, but what he does do is gives you all of the information that you will need to pass the class. You just have to put the time in to study the material. Every point in that class matters so make sure you do all the homework. It takes time hand writing it, but it is what you have to do. he makes his own tests. no t/b

Dr. Hwang does not teach an easy class because the material he is teaching is simply not easy. Plan on spending copious amounts of time outside of class studying, but know that he is always in his office willing to help if you reach out to him. He can be intimidating, but he is a quality educator.

I really regret being in his class, his attitude sparks a lot of conflict with different students and most of the classes start with a heated discussion. He seems not to be interested in actually helping students and is obsessed with his syllabus (if you do not sign it you will not get ANY points even if you have completed all of them).

I had to spend a lot of time (15 hrs/week) doing homework, projects, and studying for exams, but I got an A. He is intimidating in the class, but if you go to office hours, he is extremely helpful. Clearly defines what is on exams and what to do for projects.

Most arrogant person I've ever come across in my 8 yrs of college schooling. Prepare to learn on your own. Redundant at reading his syllabus every class meeting. Won't give out answers no matter how much you are struggling until section is done. Bad Chinese accent. Very insulting attitude. If you give in to his needs and ways, passing is possible

Plan on spending A LOT of time doing homework (handwritten in pencil). Try to do the homework during class if you plan on having a life. Uses a lot of homework questions on the test so do and understand the homework. Would be a great teacher if he stopped complaining about everything.

Complains constantly about his job, and tells students it is useless to complain about him because he is tenured, and he is the only professor that offers the course. Average grades are mid D's, he will often mark essay questions zero even when quotes are from the book. Even his peers dislike him because of his awful attitude.

Tough teacher, heavy on the homework -- but exams based a lot on homework problems so if you do them & understand them, you should be OK. Accent can be hard to understand at times.
