Comment:

Dr. Stalter is a really great person. He actually cares about each individual student which is rare, especially recently. I took both ecology and botany in the same semester which I really recommend. Field trips were fun, he gets you out into the field to learn hands on. Plus he likes squirrels and someone find this man a ball faced hornet queen!!

one of my favorite professors here at SJU. very down to earth and friendly. he cares a lot and he just wants everyone to do well! no homework, lecture isnt mandatory, textbook is optional.. lecture tests are a bit tricky but he curves generously. the labs were so much fun with the field trips! im glad i took botany!

Stalter is the man!!! Just show up to lecture and take notes, you will do really well!! The lab is probably the best at SJU, you go on a bunch of cool trips etc.. He can get off tangent in his lectures but its always something interesting or funny. Curves the exam generously and if you do a presentation about ecology, 5 points on your overall grad

stalter is the man, take him for ecology! you don't need to buy the lab manual or the textbook, no lab reports (went on field trips almost every lab), really easy bio class. exams were a little difficult but he curves generously

Stalter is definitely something else.. his exams are completely random and don't relate to the sample questions. He does offer some EC that helps but.. honestly.. if all you're looking for is a B-/B/B+ then take this course. You don't even need to show up. Good luck on your MCAT's though..

Dr. Stalter is a great character. He is very knowledgable in this field and tries to make lectures funny. I found this course to be boring (for my taste). The only con was that his tests were kind of random. He tells you what chapters to study but thats about it. It was a luck game with the questions...

Professor Stalter was not a bad teacher but he was definitley not a great teacher either. His tests were quite difficult even with studying the material. I have to say i went into this class expecting it to be a lot easier then it was.

TAKE PROFESSOR STALTER!!!! He is the nicest professor I have had at this school so far. As long as you show up to class you will get an A. He is so smart and you really learn so much from him! Such a sweetheart and he will help you whenever you need it!! I LOVED HIM and I really enjoyed this class! Easy A :)

TAKE HIM!!! This guy is amazing. NOT neccessary to go to his class. I only went to the one right before the exams and I got an A+. All you have to do is memorize the end of the chapter questions and the practice tests he gives you. EASY A. Love this guy!

DUDE he is AWESOME! I hope a get a teacher next semester that cares as much as him. He is sooo funny, everyday you'll have a good laugh. This really made going to class at 7:30 not so bad. Make sure you listen in class and review for tests and you're good!!!!

Dr. Stalter is a really funny guy. He keeps you laughing all throughout the semester. His exams were pretty off base when it came to the material he told us to study... So they were a little difficult but he curved each exam. He really wants you to do well so if you go to him, he will help. He really cares. Don't take him if you REALLY hate plants.

His test are insanely easy. He tells you everything that is going to be on the test. Gives you sample tests questions which appear on your tests. You should go to class to get a better grade since he tells you exactly what to study for

DEFINITELY TAKE HIM! no homeworks, no assignments, attendence not mandatory, just 2 tests which are fairly easy becuz he clearly states whats going to be on the exams and copies questions from the review section at the end of chapters and from the reserved material...PLUS he gives a 10 pnt. curve too! HE'S GREAT!

Very smart guy, you really have to be into biology to take him. Gives the easiest tests and attendance barely matters. Can be boring at times but the best choice out of SJU bio department. Gives no hw and is clear on test materials. Also give a presentation worth 5 points on your overall average if you happen to get a B to push it to an A.

He is horrible!! All he teaches is Ecology and Botany, and he uses crazy terms that we have no idea what he's saying. He also craps on STJ which is amusing, but he's really tough. Tests are very hard as well...completely random! I studied the material he told me to and what it should have covered for hours and the test was totally different.

Engaging professor, and definitely more of a botany man than biology in general. However, you'll probably end up walking out with more knowledge of the downfalls of St. John's bureaucracy and politics involved than biology, hahah.
