He's a very hard teacher. His tests are very hard. You really have to know what he's saying to understand the material. The only part of the class I liked is he will let you re-do a seminar near the end of the semester.

Mr. Spencer was a great teacher. He actually made the book for his class! It was a bit challenging at times but if you stick to it, you will get it eventually. He was very funny and didn't give a lot of home work, however you have to keep up in the text book or you will be very lost.

Rick is a nice person, and teacher. Although, what is studied in class will most likely never be used again; but for some, this is a required course. He's very helpful, and clear. Never degrading if someone doesn't understand something. Sometimes the work can become a little tedious, but he tries to make class enjoyable. I'd recommend him.

Logic is about learning the rules of an abstract system used by logicians to identify fallacious arguments and errors in reasoning. Often, you?ll examine arguments, transcribe them into symbols, and look for erroneous patterns of thinking. The class proved to be advantageous in both oral and written communication areas of development.

I couldn't disagree with the last poster more!!Rick IS witty, he just doesn't spoon feed you the material to regurgitate on an exam.He wants you to think for yourself.Explains things well and goes out of his way to make sure you understand everything.Read, study, go to class and you'll do well. Plus you'll have taken one of the best profs at SWIC.

This is one kick ass old hippy! He's laid back and pretty damn cool. Class is easy enough if you pay attention. If you get a C or less you are either trying to fail, or belong flipping burgers for the rest of your life.

Spencer is a mixed bag. He explains things very well. He writes his own text and that's good too. He is an EXTREMELY cynical and subjective grader. Two girls in my class missed the same question on a test. One missed one point the other missed two, and the had the SAME answer. He's also pretty strict about attendance.

Takes time going over material and makes sure you understand it before he continues. Tests arent extremly difficult, as long as you look over your notes you will easily get a B. This class is stressfree and recommended!

I would (and have) recommended him as a teacher. He goes over material slowly and makes sure you understand it. Few tests and they aren't that difficult. As long as you go to class, listen to lectures, and look over papers, you will pass easily with a B.

I would (and have) recommended him as a teacher. He goes over material slowly and makes sure you understand it. Not many tests and most were take home. This class is in depth thinking so you have to go to class and listen to lectures to understand. No textbook needed just material to read through that he provides.

Rick makes what could be tedious material thoughtful and fun. He is incredibly knowledgeable on a variety of subjects, always makes his students feel comfortable and is always willing to answer any questions. Go to class, listen and participate and you will do well. My favorite class of the semester. His soul patch is totally adorable too!

I took this teacher almost 13 years ago for an intro philosophy class. He was an inspiring teacher and I learned a lot from the class. So much, in fact, that I became a philosophy teacher and I absolutely love it. No joke. Thank you, Rick.

Boring, and as mentioned before, a very vague teacher. He's a pessimistic nihilist (I would be too if I taught at SWIC). I would highly recommend NOT taking one of his classes. He really could care less if his students are actually learning. He's just doing it for the paycheck.
