I had roger for history of photography, And i felt like I could not succeed in that class unless I buttered him up and/or had a previous class with him ( and *fingers crossed*, he liked me and my work) I find him to be pretentious.You'll enjoy the class , if he enjoys you.

Excellent teacher. He isn't a historian, but he knows more than enough about the history of photography to teach it. Covered MASSIVE amounts of material in class. Pay attention and take notes. I learned so much, and these days, if a teacher actually teaches me something that I couldn't have taught myself, that makes their class worth it. He did.

I have taken photo classes from all three professors, techincally Roger is a great teacher! He definitely made me a better photographer. Sometimes I feel he can cross the line and be inappropriate and hurtful. He also can be unrealistic when it comes to $$ and how much a student can afford. But I did learn a lot from him and I'm glad I went to AU
