Overall assigns a lot of work, within the first four weeks a ton of my class had dropped. Unfortunately expects an unreal amount of homework to be completed.

Really laidback and nice teacher. He's tests and quizzes aren't that hard. As long as you read the chapters and do the assignments, you won't have a problem passing with an A.

I'm so glad I took his guitar class! Ron is a warm and encouraging instructor; In just a quarter I learned to play basic chords and some songs I like :) Consistent practice is necessary, but it's all worth it! If you've been wanting to learn guitar, definitely take his class :)

his class is so boring and has a quiz every week. The lecture is very heavy and so many home-works. He checks the homework detail and very carefully. He don't give the extra credit for people who has grade under C. Many students drop his class, even the student has music major. Don't take his class.

Loved his class! Not a music major, nor did I have any musical background. Took the intro to music and I loved every one of his lectures. His classes have taught me to appreciate classical music. A very useful class. His teaching is very clear. Make sure to read the textbook. Tests are easy and straightforward. All from the textbook.

I am a beginner, he teaches very patiently and show you the right way to play guitar. By following his instruction step by step, I now can read the note to play guitar. He is really nice, and I would like to take this class AGAIN :)

The class was lots of work but I learned a lot. The material was very interesting. Despite his atrocious spelling ("ideophones", "pulsitile"), Ron is a fun, knowledgeable teacher who genuinely cares about the students. Not an easy A; you will need to work. Quizzes and listening assignments every week (the latter take a lot of time), three exams.

I find it hilarious when people say things like this: "Music is supposed to be fun, this teacher assigned to much work! This is community college!" This is college, you are expected to do work. Community Colleges are academic institutions, you are expected to do college level work. If you don't want to do it, don't be in college. RON DUNN IS GREAT!

Prof. Dunn is incredibly knowledgable and has a fun personality. If you are stuck in duple meter because western music has been ingrained into your mind, take this class! Learning polyrhythms through African drumming is a TON of fun. Also, if you have no experience with music theory take this class anyway! He caters to both kinds of students.

Ron's lectures are witty and well informed. He is really passionate about music and that comes through. If you do the work, you will do well. He is also very easy to talk to and gives you every chance to succeed. I thought he was one of the best teachers I have had and would take him again.

If you actually do the work (which is easy but very time consuming) you will be perfectly fine. Read the book - you need it! And although he mainly employs a lecture-style of teaching, overall, he is a nice, likeable teacher. Good luck!

This class has been a great experience, if not a bit dry. The discussion questions and listening assignments can be time-consuming, but you learn a lot if you do the work. The tests were relatively short, but did include a listening portion.

He's a great guitar teacher for classical music. I didn't know how good he was until I tried taking another guitar class from another teacher.. the other one was terrible compared to Dunn. He is very kind and helpful and compassionate when I had personal issues.

Took him for beg guitar and world music and got two As fr him. Both classes seemed rather difficult at times but found him to be an overall competent and fair professor. To you people who dropped in the past, you must put in the time and effort to recurve rewards!

Really nice and forgiving. You learn A LOT about the classical guitar IF you attend his class. Easy A if you do simple worksheets he hands out and attend a classical/flamenco guitar concert w/a report. Requires nylon stringed guitar in first day of class. Def. recommend!
