We were always having good fun in class. I can't tell how he grades things though. It's really only the tests that you get a grade on because the rest he just does and keeps in his head.

Before talking how great a teacher he is, Professor Cook is such a wonderful person. Friendly personality. Really knows his stuff. Though he speaks quite fast, he'll help you understand anything you miss and answer any question. I was once late for a quiz and almost missed the dictation part, but he mercifully repeated it for me. Love him!

Cool professor-really nice and often funny. I always enjoyed class. He demands a lot of work, but the tests are straightforward and you'll do well if you know the material.

The class is rigorous, but he knows his stuff, and he makes class entertaining. The homework takes forever, but in return, the grading on the homework is erratic. Mostly, class was fun/interesting, but sometimes I felt if you made a mistake, he would put you on the spot and continue to do so, while his favored students sailed on through mistakes.

Great sense of humor. Makes a really intimidating language seem manageable. The workload is pretty heavy, but the class itself is laid-back and encouraging and he tries to make lessons entertaining. Explained concepts pretty clearly. Thorough understanding of the language and culture.

So, so funny. Make fun of him with a smile on your face, and he'll make fun of you back. He's awesome, funny, friendly, and speaks the language like a native! People have complaints because the language is hard, but he's really a great teacher.

The guy speaks Chinese like a native, but at a rate much faster than any human being can comprehend. He's easy, nice person, but his classes aren't too cool

He was a nice enough man, if you could get past the smirk on his face. He was not very clear in explainations, does not have very interesting lectures, and has certain favorites. He is also known to say bad things about his students behind their backs.

Enter the Gu. Chinese with Gu Laoshi is not easy, but he's a good teacher and he's a good guy. Plus, he plays a mean Bill Lamberesque game of baseketball.
