Peeples is super passionate and effective as a teacher; he loves American gothic literature and it shows. He's also super accessible in office hours and is extremely fair and friendly, however, I don't find him to be a super easy grader... could just be me but I'm generally an A student and will probably end up with a lower grade in this class.

Peeples is an awesome guy and it's super obvious that he loves what he does. He's kind of an awkward guy sometimes, and will stare down the class if nobody jumps to answer a question. Fairly easy grader, but you definitely have to put in effort. Take his class if you can, he's super sweet and interesting in lectures.

Good professor, not the best lecturer. He's sweet, loves Poe, but his exams are a little tricky.

Professor Peeples is a wonderful teacher. He truly knows and loves what he is doing. I visited him many times for help on various assignments, and he always offered a great deal of constructive criticism. The lectures are rather interesting and require you to pay attention.

He was awesome! At first appears to be intimidating but is genuinely a kind teacher. Is serious a lot of the time but does have a sense of humor. The class was EXTREMELY easy. There were only a few papers. No exams/tests. Schedules class time to come in to review papers. Would recommend taking him

I love Professor Peeples. He is so nice and is a fair grader. He fosters a lot of good discussions and makes the class enjoyable. I'm not a fan of Civil War poetry, but he's making it interesting! Also, he's a Poe fanatic so reading Poe with him was fun. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend taking any of his classes, but esp. 19th Century Am. Poetry.

He is extremely monotone and boring. At 9AM, crowded around the table with 30 people in a small room is not to place to be this way. Keep up with the writing and reading and you can survive.

The teacher was sweet, the class was obnoxious, but I guess that's what you should expect from an English class- too many insecure egos wanting to prove that their opinion is right and everyone else's is wrong. Take if you like to read 18th century American literature.

Comment:
Intelligent teacher who fosters class discussions and encourages literary analysis and critiques. The reading material is rather dense at first, but he applies a historical perspective to make it easier to digest. Dry, but good-humored, and could easily fit into the historical period of literature that he teaches.

Prof. Peeples is about as good an English teacher as you could ask for, and I don't like English. Be prepared to write, but if you do what he asks you to, you'll be fine. Really nice guy, and tries to make class fun. You'll never get an A+ on a paper, but if you show effort, you can get an A pretty easily. If you have to take English, take Peeples.

Class is pretty boring but Peeples is so nice. Pretty easy grading. Assignments aren't bad at all, longest paper was only 4 pages. Tries hard to get class involved. Always willing to help, definitley take him.

Enthusiastic, sweet man. Class is very easy if you have writing skills and a love of literature--if not, will probably be a bit more difficult, but still do-able. Come to class to get the daily grades. Do the reading! Very clear expectations, reasonable workload and grading. Highly recommended. :)

he's a really sweet guy and if his lectures arent particularly interesting, his awkward gestures and the fact that he's extremely uncomfortable all the time are. i thought the material was moderately interesting and by far the best part aobut his class were his discussion groups for each paper.

Monotone voice. You'll have to fight to stay interested. He's a good guy though. He makes time for you to do your essay and run it by him. The grading is kind of random though. It's what he feels you deserved.
