Lectures are very very fast, you'll always be writing during the entire class period. It may be difficult to understand what any of it means, but his notes are very helpful. Very good teacher, would take again.

His lectures move fast but, his exams follow the same format as his problem sets which are just homework assignments. It is the only math class I've had that doesn't have a cumulative final. The best part is the extra credit, he has 3 joke contests in the semester just submit 3 math jokes and get bonus, I did all 3 and improved a full letter grade.

He goes extremely fast and doesnt always give enough time to copy notes but he does post all notes online. He takes attendance every day but I dont think its for a grade, most likely just for borderline grades. Study the problem sets because the exams are nearly identical to them. Be prepared to write A LOT and go through many pens or pencils

Very dry Professor. Lectures the entire class, and moves extremely fast. Had for diff eq. Consistently filled up 6-7 pages of notes per class. The only reason I did ok in the class was because he gives out practice exams similar to the actual exam. Problem sets were always a pain. Not really personable or friendly either.

Very poor at explaining concepts. I can quote him as saying "We have several very difficult concepts to go over this week, so let's just push through them quickly so we don't fall behind" Last week 3 new concepts were introduced on Tuesday. 3 chapters of homework assigned due Wednesday morning. The quiz was on Wednesday. never covered again.

He was a great professor and helps you understands concepts I'm someone who doesn't get it the first time so I ask a lot of questions he'll answer them all as many times as you want to make sure you understand

Not the best, not the worst. He tries to help the best that he can. If you ask him a question he normally doesn't know what you're asking. Lots of homework grades and quizzes. If you know how to do the homework, you will get and A for sure. In a nutshell, my feelings are mutual about Dr. Curran.

Horrible teacher. Just god awful. Please save yourself the time and energy and pick ANY other professor. Explains things through definition. This is the only math class that I have ever needed a tutor for because he explains things so terribly

Dr. Stephen Curran is a god among men and should be seen as a Math God. Basically his tests and quizzes are exactly like the homework and he gives enough examples to understand everything. He can go a little overboard on trying to explain stuff. Would recommended!!

Very nice professor. He is a bit quirky and humorous at times. He gives a lot of clear examples and his tests are exactly like the homework and the examples he gives. Linear Algebra with Curran was the easiest class I have taken this far. Definately go with Curran!

horrible teacher, does not explain anything just puts up a bunch of examples. His tests are hard and if you ask him a question in class he never really anwsers it he just re-states what he said. Avoid this math teacher

Very smart man, especially when it comes to math. He's not particularly good at answering student questions... seems he has a hard time understanding your question. He grades very fairly and goes over things in a fair amount of detail. I have had him for calc 1 and will have him again for linear algebra spring 2011.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Curran gives you specific notes and doesn't surprise you on tests. The homework isn't bad, but if you take notes and go over them for tests, you'll get an A like I did. I ended up with a 95% on the final. Take him. You won't regret it.

Not a bad teacher when it's just one on one, in class is a different story. He has a tendency to work through problems very quickly and doesn't take much time to explain them. Asking questions is useless as well because he doesn't give you the answer that you're looking for or show you how it works in a simpler manner.

has quirky mannerisms. ALWAYS very eager to help and go over problems. is forgetful - if you makeup a quiz and told him ahead of time, remind him you told him in advance when you do take it. takes too long to answer simple questions. do the problems, don't be afraid to ask for help, and stay on top of things and you'll get an A or B easily.

VERY easy class; tests are exactly like the problem sets; if you have a question, probably won't get it answered by Curran because he can only explain things one way
