Comment:

Mrs. Quillian is a wonderful person but can be a rather harsh grader. I thoroughly enjoyed her lectures and looking over short stories in her class. The main problems are her grading and the difficult to comprehend due dates. She doesn't use canvas or any online resources, and you need to pay attention to due dates because she doesn't repeat them.

Handwriting is horrible, make sure you go to her for clarity. Also tough grader, pin points every single little thing. I would suggest you not to take her!!!!

Comment:

Quillian is a great teacher. Very funny and gives great feedback on papers. She does consultations when writing essays and you can have multiple consultations with her to make sure you're on the right path. Class is very easy if you just follow the guidelines/syllabus. Towards the end of the quarter, class isn't mandatory so you get an early break.

I've always had a good grade in all my years of taking English classes till I had her. Her grading is difficult even if your follower her guide lines. When receiving feedback, good luck trying to read her hand writing because it just looks like scribbles. If I hadn't known her teaching was like this I would NEVER take her class. Brace yourselves.

Do not take this class; you must be a self starter. You will be doing all the hard work to teach yourself how to write. She is very unclear about the writing structure and is ironically tough about grading your work. She can & will scratch out whole pages of your essays, & her handwriting is illegible. However, she does offer rewrite options.

Loved this class. Just follow the guidelines she gives for grading her paper and you will do great. Hardest part is the 2 day in class paper that you will have to do for the final paper.

The worst professor I've ever had. She is an extremely hard grader. I learned nothing. She is unclear of what she's looking for in essays. Her handwriting is illegible (I went to 4 others teacher to help me figure out what she was saying, and none of them could read it!) DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! I was a 4.0 student...247

There will be quizzes on the short readings she sometimes assigns. In the last days/weeks before a major paper is due, there is no lecture but she is in the classroom available for "consultation;" editing and offering advice on your paper. If you aren't happy with your grade on any paper, you can edit it and have it re-graded up to 1 week later.

Attendance wasn't mandatory but she gives quizzes at the beginning of class for the first half of the quarter or so that counts towards your grades. She was unclear in her lectures, directions, and handwriting, picky on what you write about, has an ego, and I can confidently say I did NOT learn a thing from her class.

The first half of the quarter consisted of two papers, some light reading for homework, and in-class discussion. Participation is a good chunk of the grade. The last half of the quarter required no attendance, but class was open daily if we wanted help on our research papers (to which she had great advice). She's pretty entertaining.

This teacher is by far the WORST teacher on the face of this earth. She did absolutely nothing but tell meaningless stories about her live(which no one cares about). All she does is ridicule you as a person. She's has a ego and thinks too highly of herself. Save yourself the trouble and money, and not take her class.

Awesome teacher. She's the only English 102 teacher that doesn't force a stupid subject for your final on you - she lets you choose your own (she also provides you with a list of ~50-100 backup topics in case you can't think of one). There's only about 3 assignments that she grades, and the daily assignments are incredibly easy, but interesting.

I had the worst experience with her, she was unclear about what she liked with her work, she would refer to the book for "grammar help," only to find out the book is misleading? she confused the hell out of me. NEVER TAKE HER CLASS. unfair grading and her hand writing is unbearable; some times she can't even read it.

Hate her! She hates Asian! and she said bad words to students!!! Just wanna ask her about the grade, "I don't give a**** about this! I don't care!!"Even tutor in writing center said the essays are good, she failed the eassys. She doesn't help student at all. even wait for her about 3 hours in average once a week. Stupid old lady!!!

This teacher although sweet once on her good side is very vague with her requirements for writing essays. Dont expect to learn how to write a research paper. I had to do research on how to write a research paper. Thought thats what I was paying them for...? I could tell you her sons occupation, favorite color, girlfriends name, etc. DONT TAKE!!!!

I enjoyed her class. Once you figure out what it is that she wants, its a breeze. But you have to do the work. She expects you to be creative. She gives you lots of time to get the assignments done, and she gives you time to do the re-writes after she gives you initial feed back. What else do you need? Get on her good side. She loves Zippy Burgers!
