Barbee is a nice and very helpful. I have trouble in math but his class is easy. I just got my grade and it is an A. Sadly he is retiring!

His first 3 exams arent too difficult, just do ALL the homework, show up everyday, etc. But his final is MURDER. he will pick the hardest problems from every chapter, and you bet there will be a lot of trigonometry.... i had a 95% before taking the final and BAM, i got a B. If you want to get an A in this class, you need to MASTER the material.

Comment:

Math 3A is a difficult class. But Prof. Barbee is an excellent teacher. I loved the setup of his class. Stay for the lecture, and ask questions afterwards. If you don't have questions, you can leave. If you do, he will walk you through the problem until he is confident you understand. If you want to learn math, he is the perfect instructor.

horrible class. no homework or quizzes, nor does he take attendance (after the first 2 or 3 class meetings) BUT there are 4 tests all worth 100 points which determine your grade. if you're a slacker, i don't recommend taking this class because you really are responsible for yourself in this class and no one holds your hand. he also cant teach

prof barbee is the nicest teacher I had this semester. I agree with past reviewers that he is fatherly. If you work hard then your grade will reflect it, but his class is not an easy A. Especially if you're not good at math. I recommend him overall. Great guy and he goes out of his way to help you if you need help

Comment:

Prof. Barbee is a capable teacher of calculus and a thoughtful educator. He answered my questions to my fullest satisfaction and managed to clarify a number of more relevant concepts. His final was the hardest of all exams. My only complaint is that he uses examples from the text. It would've been better if he did problems from other sources.

overal good prof. explains very thouroughly. so thouroughly sometimes he just starts to confuse people so i can see how some people get frustrated. very helpful if you need it. doesnt take attendance or grade homework. grade is 100% test scores but test q's are the simplest ones that just test your knowledge of a concept. show up pay att do h/w = A

He tries to cover all the material; but at the end you DO NOT understand much in his class. It seems like he does not have a real method of teaching. The WORST thing about this teacher is that he is NOT fair; by answering the questions and grading: "you are a good looking girl, then you have better chance!"

He doesn't bother himself with attendance, homework, or any of that kids stuff. Like a real Professor. If you wanna learn, you will. He does his best to explain everything in class. If you want to study at home and just show up for the exams, that's fine too. Easy going, very calm, helpful, kind, generous, even fatherly. I wish he'd teach 3B.

EXCELLENT teacher! Goes over the sections in the text problem by problem. Only takes roll the first week or two. Assigns hw but doesn't collect it. DO THE HW. Don't understand the problem? He'll go over them in the next class. It's not easy, but hey, it's algebra! Very repetetive which is just what I needed. Stays after class to help if you need it

He's pretty good. He is nice. Doesn't collect HW. Doesn't care what you're doing during class as long as you don't talk. Doesn't care much about attendance. 4 tests, including final. Drops lowest grade.((Final isn't conclusive, just the last chapters worked on in class))His lectures are boring & drain on. Just do HW and you'll get an good grade.

Very good math teacher waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Erbas for sure she's always angry and rushing through things but Barbee makes sure you understand and the tests are amazing. If you're contemplating bet. any other math teacher take Barbee hands down!!!!

So I took Barbee last Spring for Math 251, I have to say, for failing Math 110 (or w/e) at OCC 3 times.I took his course and passed with an A. I took notes every so often and read comic books the whole time. Grading is 3 tests out of 4 (including your final and you drop lowest grade. Take his class if you're down to do a bit of HW to prep for tests

Another average teacher. Very mellow guy and helps you with ease. HE TEACHES TOO FAST! He tends to blab and write alot for hours. But he always asks if anyone needs help or questions.Note taking is a must. If you cannot write notes clearly, this is not for you. I had to drop the class because it going to fast for me.Overall, he's mediocre.
