He's 100% not accessible outside of class. Your best luck is going to the SI sessions or getting a tutor. Even though it is Physics 1, he already expects you to know how to do everything, so he is super brief when it comes to the topic. Rarely does examples, which makes the long homeworks even worse. Do not take.

He is a very kind professor and available during any office hours and responds to emails promptly. however I was not good at physics so he tends to over explain which left me confused however he likes when his students speak up and ask questions

Gibson is a fun lecturer, with lots of cool demonstrations. Exams are generally copy-paste problems from lecture, **with trivia on the exam as well. Show up to lectures, show up to lectures, show up to lectures. Hes a cool dude and appreciates active participation. You dont have to read the book but it helps you stay afloat.

Doesn't really care about what you understand. He writes so quickly and will stand in front of the board until he's done writing- he also will explain what he's writing, but talks into the board so it's very hard to hear. He doesn't take attendance which is nice until you get to the tests. He gives a VERY brief "review" but it doesn't help at ALL.

Expects you to know some physics before taking this intro class. He writes very fast on the board, and gives little time to take good notes. He also stands in front of his writing until hes completely done with the problem, then erases. Uses confusing subscrptHe also does not help you understand what is on exams no review). Teaches ulikeyou knowit

Because I took the class in a summer session, the class was very condensed and fast paced. I was, however, able to access extra assistance from the professor during his office hours. With some effort, I was able to ace the class

Dr. Gibson is one of the best science professors I've had at Tech. His lectures are a little hard to follow if you don't come to class prepared, but all of his tests are based on questions that he goes over in class. A few of the conceptual questions come from the textbook, but they aren't hard to answer if you just pay attention in lecture.

Awful. Be prepared to teach yourself. He is one of the worst professors I've ever had. He has no idea how to teach and just copies from a piece of paper he printed from google onto the board. If you ask a question, he usually can't even answer it. Plus, his grading scale is stupid. 91 is a B, 81 is a C.

The Lecture is good, go to class and take good notes. All Physics labs are absolutely the worst, they could learn from Chemistry Dept. Almost none of the lab equipment works, but it is not Gibson's fault because he doesn't control the lab. Gibson is entertaining and will keep your attention.

I went to talk to him after class because I was having a hard time so I was thinking about dropping. He told me he expected his students to know basic physics before going to his class (a physics 1 class). I learned everything from the textbook and he didn't not help at all.

Quantum mechanics is a tough subject, but Dr. Gibson eases this by being extremely helpful. In hindsight, we didn't cover much material because the book we used was rather poor, but what was covered, was done very thoroughly. As with everything else, if you make an honest effort, you will learn.

material on test's comes from homework assignments and online quizzes. Online quizzes are super easy and unlimited chance to make a 100%. Class is bearable and attendance isn't mandatory and labs took no longer than half an hour.

He's been doing physics for so long he often rushes through problems without the class understanding the information. I imagine if he tough in a smaller lecture hall he would be a better teacher. Definitely has a good personality, but his tests are 25 questions long and the other professors are usually only 10. Also a 71 is a D.

Amusing prof. Tries to be very straightforward and usually succeeds. Cool experiments. Always hated physics in high school but it was a lot easier to understand here. Online homework sucks and some exam questions are unfair if you don't pay constant attention in lectures, but overall I enjoyed him very much.

Amazing professor. He was always available during office hours for questions. Physics was hard and uninteresting to me especially after having Gagnon for 1408. Gibson made physics bearable and I actually got excited to go to class every time. His final is all 3 midterms with the same numbers plus the new material he covered after the 3rd midterm.

I did not enjoy Gibson. He is not helpful to the students and he thinks he is funnier than he really is. He has been teaching the class for so long that he doesn't care what his students make. The only good thing about his class is that he does do lots of experiments. I would not recommend taking his class! I wish I would've taken general physics!

He doesn't do examples in class. He goes over topics very generally. He uses an overhead projector and doesn't leave slides up long enough to take good notes. His tests are very conceptual and can't help when asked how to better study for them.
