Dr. Iwin is very understanding and helpful. If you're looking for a class with a planned-out syllabus, he does not have one. When I had a class with him the syllabus was not complete and was always changing. He gives really great feedback on papers and is very personable during class. His only downfall is he can be a slow grader.

I personally enjoyed the class. Getting into the readings was hard for me, but once we explained and analyzed them in class it was better. He takes a while to grade, but meeting with him is very easy. Attendance is/was not a grade, but to do well on the midterm/essays/final, take notes over what you discuss in class. Can use notes on midterm/final

You can't get better than this teacher. His feedback, quality of his words, and the respect he gives students is truly a rare gem at this time of teaching. He always finds some good in work but will divulge feedback and sensible words so that you understand how to develop your work better. Don't be nervous when talking to him, he's great!

I love this guy! His lectures were very interesting and informative. Grades are based on 3 papers, midterm, and a final. They are not difficult if you keep up with the reading. He never assigns a ton of it either. I would take any of his classes. He is easy to contact and communicate with and he works with students if he needs to. I recommend him!

Junior Writing: Creative Writing One of my favorite teachers. Kind and makes the curriculum interesting. Papers aren't fun but his prompts were always flexible. He allowed you to pick your own direction and this made it much more enjoyable.

GREAT PROFESSOR! I have learned so much about myself and my writing in his class. The readings and discussions are so intriguing. He was so incredibly helpful throughout the whole terrifying writing process. One of my favorite professors!

One of the best teachers Ive had. He's in my top 3! Very clear& straight to the point with assignments. Patient, kind,& willing to help, never rude like Fairbanks was. Gives more wiggle room with writing topics so that we can write passionately about something that interests us. His feedback is insightful, &appreciated. Looked forward to his class.

Professor Irwin is fantastic! I'm a non-traditional student and haven't taken a writing class since 2000. He puts you at ease with your writing and really wants you to do well. Peer reviews are awful. There is some reading required (short essays) - read them. If you don't like something, bring it up in class; he respects all opinions and the discussions are engaging.

Glenn is the coolest man in the world. He can find something good to say about any piece of work, he's friendly, and has a great knowledge of poetry and fiction. He's also willing to meet with any student after class to offer help. I'd recommend taking Glenn any time.

Prof Irwin is fantastically open and engaging about his subject and your writing. He listens to and takes in all opinions, and really makes you take pride in your writing. When it comes to assignments, they were either reading the textbook for discussion in class, or reading other students' writing and providing feedback both written and in class
