The most amazing educator I have ever had. She is the best there is. Professor Martin keeps it real all the time. She will call you out without any hesitation. You have to attend class and participate. Mandatory online revel assignments and heavily weighted final exam. Lectures are amazing as is she. You have to earn an A, but its worth it!

This woman is amazing!!! She is educated and experienced and does not sugar coat anything. Her classes are interesting and provide such a great learning experience. Ive taken every class she teaches at ESU and Id take her for more if I could.

She tells it how it is. If you slacking, skipping class, or just plain stupid she will call you out. You have to go to class and she counts participation. She is a tough grader but fair. She gives out specific instructions and/or rubrics , so follow them. If you give a presentation check it for grammar and spelling or she will rip you apart!

This professor is just wow Her class is straight forward she will tell you how it is from the jump and gives you no surprises If you're failing or slacking she will let you know She is super smart and experienced this class is worth every penny Her knowledge and passion has me drawn to taking every class she teaches

Funny, interesting stories. Her background is incredible, she has so much experience in the CJ field. I highly recommend getting her on your good side. Counts participation so you have to get 40 checks in her class by raising your hand answering questions by the end of the semester. Home work and test a not to difficult if you study. Enroll now!

I've taken Vertel for at least 4 classes so far, and I would take her even more times! She has an extensive background in the criminal justice field (google her, she's awesome). She knows what she's talking about and I truly admire her. Exams are easy if you PREPARE. She counts participation, but if you're like me and don't, your grade wont suffer!

She taught the first 3 chapters but then had assigned group projects to teach the rest so its a complete hit or miss if you learn anything. She also makes you earn "checks" for participation by raising your hand and answering questions, but you need at least 2 checks per class to even get full participation... to bad it was a 60+ lecture hall

Best CJ professor at ESU. Extremely passionate and well versed within her knowledge and expertise. Makes the student work for the grade, but still makes it possible in through many different possibilities to obtain the best grade possible. She is my CJ inspiration and role model.

Took her for organized crime and intro to security. This lady is HARD, but guess what, you'll become smarter because of it. She knows her****, down to the T. She puts fourth so much effort you wonder why the other professors still have jobs. The most intimidating lady i've ever met in my life and I loved every second of it.

Professor Martin was an NYPD Transit officer for 15 years. She knows exactly what she's talking about, and that experience carries over into her expectations for students. She's strict, but it's one of the most important CJA classes you'll take.
