Okay, this professor is retired now. However, I saw some awful comments about her and it broke my heart. She is the best teacher I've had. She cares, but only if you do. She cares more than most professors. She isn't just interested in your work, but also as individuals. However, if you don't try, if you don't respect her then she wont respect you

The class was interesting because when she was lecturing it she was really in the story. I took her world literature class and I really liked the stories when she lecture it. Just take her classes and pass her easy tests.

Had her for English Composition 2 and LOVED her! She is probably my favorite teacher at the university even after 5 years after taking her! She really helped me understand how to write a paper. You have to read and ask questions to pass. It's an easy class as long as you do what you are required to do. Her sarcasm was the best.

Dr. Spaniol's class was one of the most difficult English courses I have taken. She is very straightforward and expects your best work. She also hates technology, so if you want her to get off topic, go with that. I actually made an F on my first paper with the comment "Did you even read?!" Lol but I ended with an A and ended up really loving her.

For those saying Spaniol is rude, etc., it is totally wrong. She has a very dry sense of humor, but very much cares how well the students do. She is funny and puts a lot of humor into the stories. Didn't think I'd like this class - LOVED it because of her! For the negative comments, quit whining and grow up! You will have to read. Worth it!

Awesome class! Dr. Spaniol expects you to read the material and know what's going on in class, and if you that, her class is a breeze! TALK to her in class, answer questions, and she'll go more in depth about what you're reading. She KNOWS when you don't read. If you read, you'll ace the tests!

Dr. Spaniol is AWESOME! If you are lazy, don't take her class. However it's easy. Just read! For those saying she's rude - Not hardly. She has a dry sense of humor & I saw many people take it the wrong way. She cares very much about students passing & makes it easy if you show up to class. She's by far one of my favorite teachers so far. Very funny

She is very rude, she whispers and it's hard to understand her. She gets off topic A LOT. She never really defined how much of the text to read and we'd cover an entire novel in ONE CLASS and she'd be angry because we didn't finish... This class was hell. Avoid her unless you have nothing better do than sit and read entire novels in one night.

She is a no non-sense person that will not tolerate it when students get smart with her or make seemingly funny remarks and is full of herself and sometimes rude. Your grade consists of 4 tests, she doesn't keep attendance, but you need to go to take notes for a good grade. She'll tell you she hopes you fail if you don't take it serious and try.

She has no problem admitting her faults. She also has no problem telling you your flaws, in front of the class if needed. She doesn't play around. She expects you to learn and you will. If you want to learn how to write a paper well, take her. If you want to breeze through- may want to reconsider!

I think most people's problems with Dr. Spaniol stem from their inability to comprehend sarcasm. Yes, she is rude, critical, and ocassionally mean, but let's face it, most of her students are idiots. If you come to class, learn when to shutup, pay attention and have some semblence of intelligence you should be fine in her class.

Dr. Spaniol is an intimidating teacher. The class isn't too hard if you do your readings, but don't ask her for help. I once asked her what the grade i recieved meant and she said"if you are going to complain about it than i'll lower it!" she's a bit ridiculous. and she will NEVER tell you when a paper is due--but you dare not ask about it!
