I took Prof. Silverman in 2006 and really enjoyed her course. As a person I thought she was very nice and helpful, and as a professor I thought she did a great job. I ended up with a B in her class mostly because I've never been a very good student. Wasn't her fault though.

Comment:

Señora Silverman in a nice woman but not a very good professor. She has a lot of interesting stories but nothing to do with the class. She was absent to class on several occasions with no sub. I would not recommend this teacher especially if you have a hard time wrapping you brain around Spanish.

Does not care in the least about students that are having a hard time. She expects every student in her class to be native speaker, even in the 101. Completely schizophrenic. One minute she's laughing and the next ridicules/belittles you. Terrible professor. NEVER TAKE HER CLASSES!!! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE

I have to agree with what some of the other students said about if she does't like you then its all over. She liked me for the first half then turned in to the wicked witch of the west. She truly does grade as well according to how she feels and her grading is extremely inconsistent. I will not take her ever again.

While in her class she was out a lot due to health reasons. She was very nice but it was hard to learn when we had a different substitute each week. If I didn't already have high school basics, this class would have been really tough. I felt I taught myself more than I actually learned in class. The teacher is nice but that's about it.

:-o DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO LEARN SPANISH! SILVERMAN IS THE WORST(I can't even call her a professor) The class spends more time trying to figure out what she's doing? :-o You will spend most of your time listening to a very confused woman talk about herself and other people and very little about spanish. She expects 100%. She gives 10%. She does not care about anyone but herself. She has poor communication skills and she smells something awful! Be careful if she doesn't like you, she'll get cha!

This woman talks more about other people than she does teaching spanish. She'sabsolutely terrible! I can't even find the words to describe her? Is this some kind of a joke or something? Mesa has always been known to have great professors. This woman is so awful, I'm considering investing in another public institution!

She is very helpful. I am very surprised that she was rated so low. I had her during the afternoon and the class was filled with a lot of 18 year olds that fooled around and always had excuses for not showing up. She does not deal with any of that stuff. She hates it. Honestly thought she was an awesome teacher.

I agtee with other posts. She is a very biased teacher. The worst that I have ever come accross. She hated me for some reason that I never understood, and I am usually liked by all of the professors. She wanted me to raise my hand more then she looked over me when I did. Could not figure out how to succeed in her class.

If you are sick (even with a doc note) and drop off homework on time at her office hours but cannot attend class, expect a zero.She is very unfair and has no compassion for any situation. Shes extremely unclear and if you slip up once, expect hell for the rest of the semester! She holds grudges and will grade according to how she feels about you.

SHES CRAZY!! She is unfair and if you are sick even with a doctor note, NOTHING IS EXCUSED. Be prepared to come to class everyday, and if you miss one day expect a loss of about 30 points from your grade, Very unclear and very bias. If she doesnt like you, BEWARE! I wish i dropped and took spanish with a different instructor. be prepared for hell.

needs improvement. It is more like a social hour (2.5) for her than a classroom. She tries to make jokes just to kill time and never let's class run short. she is incredibly vague on expectations for homework and exams, but is a "tough tamale" for a grader.

She is a good Spanish teacher. She try's hard to keep class fun and interesting. If you really want to learn a language than you'll do great in her class, however, if you're just fulfilling your GE and don't really care, you might find it hard to float through this one. I recommend her highly and am taking her next semester as well.
