Very nice professor but sometimes not the best teacher. Drifts off into stories and sometimes explains material quickly, but as long as you do the reading/communicate with other classmates you will be fine.

I learned to love a lot of music I never thought I would. He is very passionate and knowledgeable. All of the work for the class online which makes it super easy to pass, but if you're not a music major then it is super easy to get bored. He cares about his students a lot. He's eccentric, scatterbrained, and sometimes says more than he should.

I have 166 earned credits and this guy is in the top three worst teachers I've ever had. I had a B in his class after the final assignment and while I was waiting for final grades to be posted he went back into my grades and gave me zeros on everything.

He was a very nice person, but was not necessarily exciting. I would find myself trying to stay awake in class. It was an easy A because all his quizzes were online, but I did have a hard time learning anything.

I took MUSC107 for a gen ed. I HIGHLY recommend taking this class over film appreciation because it's much easier. There are quizzes every week, but they are all online and open book/open note. He really cares about helping his students, and he is dedicated to music. You don't need a musical background, and you don't have to know how to read music.

Dr. Zirk was my favorite college professor to date. Very nice guy with good feedback and the material is very easy. Definitely recommend to anybody looking to get art credits.

Extremely nice, reaches out, & entertaining. Puts a lot of work into online presentation of modules. A lot of work per module. Does leave side notes on essays. Also expects MLA/APA, and grammar, but asks for essays that must be worded in first person (?) due to their personal or creative nature. Must attend a classical event and write an essay.

Dr. Zirk is so nice! He is easily distracted a lot but it's funny. Attendance is really not necessary even if you don't take the class online, all the assignments are online. Would recommend!

Don't take his online classes if you aren't prepared to spend a lot of time reading. Way too many in depth assignments, and more quizzes than I could even count. He is very helpful though if you have any questions, and he gives great feedback on every assignment. You can tell he's passionate about what he's teaching.

Music Appreciation? More like Music Depreciation. Took this class online, and it was miserable. I don't know how many times I swore at my computer screen in frustration. I kept doing assignments and quiz after quiz after test forever. If you don't want a life take this class. Oh and you have to go to a concert write about it and pay 170 for a book!

Dr. Zirk is a fantastic teacher, though he is quite easily distracted. But that is ok, if you do not understand something go talk to him during his office hours. During one on one situations he is arguably the greatest teacher I have ever had.

Wonderful professor! Dr. Zirk is one of the best professors they have at Eastern. I love the way he responds to threaded discussions and submitted work. He actually takes the time to give you insightful information about your work and the lesson. He's a very positive professor and you can tell he loves his job. I highly recommend this professor.

Wonderful professor! Takes some time to get used to his way of teaching, because he can be a little scatterbrained. But he is an absolutely brilliant man who is passionate about life and music! There wasn't a day where I didn't learn something that I'll use for the rest of my life.

Took online. Such an awesome professor. He is so helpful and understanding. He is really accomodating when it comes to issues with due dates and everything. Quizzes are very easy and most answers are word for word in the book or can be googled. Easy A and awesome class!
