Ever for graduate study, I wouldn't recommend Prof. Gao. She makes a quiz on the first day of the class "to find out how much you know"! She also assigns a homework the first day since "you can easily read 60 papers in the weekend"! She might be a good scientist but she is very tough.

On the first day of the class, Prof. Gao made a quiz! And again, from the first day, she gave us a homework and said "you can read 60 papers in the weekend"! I think these two explain it. She is very tough. If you have another choice, go for it. Never, ever take her class.

Do yourself a huge favor and avoid her at all costs. Find another BCHS elective to take because this one will stress you out and leave you hopelessly lost. She wont teach you anything and her lecture slides are outdated/confusing. Quizzes/tests were based off information from wikipedia and very specific websites. Very unclear grading scheme.

One of the WORST PROFESSORS ever. Would not recommend anyone to take her. She is horrible, does not know how to teach. The highest grade on the final exam was a 52 but she did not curve at all at the end and gave most students D's and even F's and we had to report her to the department because her grading is ridiculous. STAY WAY!

By far one of the worst professors I have EVER taken! She is extremely unorganized, her lectures are confusing, and her exams have nothing to do with what she talks about in class. She is a brilliant scientist but she should just quit teaching because she does such a horrible job at it. She expects us to graduate level stuff and get mad if we don't

Her English is atrocious. Some professors simply can't speak English even though they understand it perfectly fine. She can neither understand nor speak English at a competent level. The only words she says with certainty are protein names. Her tests are full of grammarspelling errors and will leave you more confused than if they were in Greek.

She is a nice person, however, she is brutal on exams. Her exams are very long, and are 100% free response(and 9 pages long)! If you want to take an elective thats easy, dont take her class!

As long as you can deal with her accent, she is very helpful and nice. Lots of work, but she is fun and nice.

Hard class, she makes it easier, if you get past her accent. Oh and the completed class figures are the number who took the third exam after 10 in of rain.
