i skipped more than half the time (no joke) and still ended up with a B-. she has no idea how to grade. once i took my paper to her so she can look it over again because i thought i deserved better than a C. her response? that i'm not a good judge of my work. i don't know why UGA hasn't fired her yet.

Dr. Hoff was a great English teacher. When writing my papers I went to her office hours to get advice on my writing. Go to her office hours and she will know you are trying. pop quizzes on reading but readings are short. I recommend Hoff.

She's not a good teacher at all! Avoid her class if you can. The class discusssions are pointless. She's too picky on essays and gives whatever grades she wants. AVOID!

Prof. Hoff is a nice lady and tells good stories, but is not a gifted teacher. She does not know what a grading scale is, and can only give her students an inaccurate estimate of their cummulative grade. She grades essays based on her moods, and her she facilitates discussion through fumbling and outrageous hand gestures. Avoid.

AC Hoff is an entertaining teacher to have in class and does a good job of facilitating discussions, but the overall grading is very unstructured. Class averages on essay grades seemed to be abnormally low for an English 1101 class and you never really knew where you stood. If you go to The Key Hoff's class grade average has dropped every year.

Hoff is not the teacher you want to have for ENGL 1101. She is fun and all, until you get your papers back. I've got a 3.9 gpa here, I can write a paper, but I could not get an A on a single paper. The class has no structure. The syllabus is not followed and you have no clue what your grade is all semester until it appears on oasis. Don't take her!

Yeah, she's a little scattered sometimes, but she's cool, fun, and extremely smart. A little edgy sometimes, so students who haven't accepted that they're adults yet should stay away. Make the most of meeting iwth her to go over drafts. That helps alot.

Dr. Hoff is pretty random and likes inappropiate jokes. Sometimes she just goes off on her own little tangents and no one really knows how to respond. Overall, it's an easy class, though. She doesn't require much out of her students. (I only had to do 3 papers and the portfolio). Homework is not overwhelming at all... usually just a small reading.

She's DEFINITELY scatter-brained & odd.. like all the time.. but she's nice. You don't have to write very many papers and she doesn't grade them hard at all.. all we ever did in class is discuss what we read (usually a very short story or poem) the night before.. definitely EASY though.

Compared to the other English teacher at UGA, AC is really cool. Your grades are nothing put the papers, and she doesn't give grades lower than C's. All you really do in class is discuss readings, that are usually pretty good. She is really smart but very scatterbrained, and she likes say inappropriate things. (Like how she goes to Toppers)

She is very easy. Yes, she's very weird but if you are a half-decent writer you can make an A. I recommend Prof. Hoff if you don't like doing a whole lot of work but enjoy getting an A. If you want a strict know-it-all, this is not the class for you.

She was, at times, very scattered brained and would forget to mention if class was cancelled and stuff like that. Although she seemed very laid back in class, she is actually a pretty hard grader so be sure to make every paper PERFECT! Oh, and she LOVES to say odd, out of place sexual comments that don't even make much sense. She's a little odd!

Comment:

I got an A after a lot of unduly hard work. My old AP Engl teach was 10x more intelligent, and I always got A's in his class. This woman doesn't know where she's criticizing from. She's better at being a student than a prof. Uninspiring, tedious, and boring. No cohesiveness of thought.
