Professor Brussin was a really good professor. Essay topics were fairly interesting. She has lots of stories to share, so ask her! If you have a problem or some kind of conflict with deadlines, let her know. She's pretty lenient. Go to class because attendance matters. Just make sure to do all assignments and you're solid. Has 1 extra credit.

Hybrid class was boring, but there wasn't that much busy work which was nice. Don't bother buying the textbook, you'll only use it once. Pay attention to her feedback on essays, as it's helpful. Show up and participate and you'll get a good grade from her. Also don't be a jerk; actually participate when she asks otherwise it's just awkward.

I loved Professor Brussin. She was so funny and inspiring. Before class would start, she always had a gem of wisdom for us. I have never been considered a good writer, but I got an A on the second essay and an 89 on the first one. I havent gotten my grade back yet for the final essay, but im sure I did well. Shes a nice grader. :)

It's not like eng 101 professors are great in general but this class felt like busywork. If you like writing it's amusing, but don't expect to feel intellectually stimulated. she does assign pretty good short stories though.

She is a little awkward but she owns it and is actually super relatable. For the hybrid class, the online days are easy and you just have to show up to in-person days. Don't bother buying the textbook just find a PDF online and you'll be fine. The 3 essays aren't terrible to write and you really know what she's looking for. Overall decent prof.

Overall, the class was not difficult. As long as you turn in essays on time and follow the criteria you should get an A. Prof. Brussin was a nice, interesting person, but I did not enjoy how she conducted the classroom. She forced students to overshare and if we didn't, she would become very upset. People were often visibly uncomfortable.

I took this class as a hybrid class. If you participate and show that you care in class, she gives you the grade an A- make sure she likes you. The class was super easy with barely any reading/discussion posts online, and purely discussions on the in person portion. The essays were really easy and her feedback was decent. Easy A if you show up.

There's only three papers, but you have preparation assignments for each. Honestly the class isn't too difficult, and she loves students that genuinely participate in the class. You use the textbook like twice, and the majority of the class was done online (I took the hybrid) Not too difficult, not a difficult professor, good time all around.

This was a great class. Mrs. Brussin is fun. There was a lot of reading and writing, but tbe for an English class.

The class itself wasn't difficult, but incredibly boring. The forcing of her students to be friends with each other and share personal information was uncomfortable and weird. Everything just felt awkward all the time.

This class was the most boring class I've had. She facilitates class in an awkward way by kind of forcing everybody to participate. There are three argument essays that aren't hard to write but are more time-consuming than anything. The hybrid aspect of this class is the most appealing part of it.

Reviews here are unfair.. Brussin is a solid professor, she's actually wants to improve your writing. Sure she can be a little out of touch w her students but it's also the students job to work hard. She made think more critically and skeptically about media and made a better writer overall. Great choice for ENG102

Professor Brussin is honestly not that good. The reviews here say that she's all right, but in the most honest opinion, she is kinda just a lazy teacher who doesn't have much of a spark left. She doesn't really get the tone of the class, just hands out assignments and expects the class to go on. If you want to enjoy a class, avoid.

Like everyone else said, she is a little awkward, but not a bad professor. The class met once a week and got cancelled a few times. I've heard taking 105 with other professors is hard so I'd recommend Brussin. Class grade relies on just the online discussion boards and 3 essays. She is relaxed and an easy grader.

She makes the class feel uncomfortable, and she will shoot down ideas, however gets mad when no one wants to participate. Overall not to difficult, but weird.

Very tough grader, There are 3 papers throughout the semester and then with her hybrid class you have an assignment due every Friday. Class is extremely pointless and boring.

Alana was an amazing professor. Offered critical thinking opportunities almost every class. Genuinely wanted to know her students and their opinions. I had completely different standings on many beliefs than her but it never effected how she graded or treated me. If you can, absolutely take her class!!

As a person I really liked her, as a teacher however she was really unprofessional. She took forever to grade things, i'm talking over a month, she rarely updates grades on blackboard. There is a lot of discussion board posts and class is mandatory. Skip 4, you fail.

Alana spent almost hour with me in her office on each of my essays and it was very helpful, so I would recommend going to her office hours for help. I wasn't happy with how I did on the first paper, but now I think it pushed me to try harder. The class made me think about things in a new way.I wish it was not hybrid.
