He is nice and fun. He wants to have discussions with the class, not just constantly lecture. His homework was pretty straightforward, nothing very difficult. Seems to be a lenient grader. You'll have a pretty good time in his class. With this course, the policy was if you didn't go to a class, you could not complete the hw for that class.

Dr. Mitra is a respected instructor but he is very tough with his policies. He has a course contract for students to sign during the first week of class. No make ups at all. But extra credit for completing all reading and HW assignments with 100% score. Unlimited attempts. Tough final exam.

I took this class as a distance learning course. The course was intense. Every week there were reading assignments, homework assignments, practice problems, and quizzes. Too much work compared to other econ classes taught by other professors. This guy is very demanding!

Comment:
In class he would give us a lecture on the chapter for the week. He gave us class assignments to complete on our own or in a group. He didn't really go over a lot of the things that he put on our quizzes or walk us through examples of the problems we had to learn to solve. The final exam was the worst, it was a miracle that I passed the class w/a B

This online course was well organized by Dr. Mitra. There were lot of assignments for a 8 week course - homework, quiz - every week, three exams, four topics on discussion board. But I learned a lot. The professor was also very quick on responding to emails.

Comment:
I took this course as an online course in the MBA program. Professor Mitra's course was very well organized but it was very challenging and a lot of work. The discussion topics were very helpful because they were based on topics from the real world economic issues. This class helped me to gain knowledge about business decision making.

Amlan Mitra made economics even more fun than it was in my previous economics class. He gives something in his class for everyone. For those who have been able to understand most of the material to that point, he describes for what else that knowledge can be used. For those who are not doing as well, he gives extra credit that is actually relevant.

Comment:
The worst teacher ever, very arrogant and pretentious. He based all his class in short lectures and absurd presentations and then he actually thinks he is the most valuable teacher at PUC. You will not learn anything because he does not teach anything, but yet he teaches everything at PUC. Seriously, they should fire this guy immediately

Is not really that the class was hard, but he jumped all over the place and his quizzes were not a representation of the class or even the book, in order to improve its quality, the school of management should get rid of him

I had to drop. I didn't understand every other word that came out of his mouth. Heavy accent. He is a very nice guy, but didn't really seem willing to help when I approached him with a problem. Hate the group quizzes...with so many people talking its too loud to focus on this heavy material.
