Comment:
Professor Vassar is great professor who gives you a lot of homework to do. Expect there to be a lot of quizzes to take. Going to class is important because he changes the date for quizzes and tests. He would also give reviews on some quizzes in class. He uses power point a lot in class. Despite the work load, Professor Vassar is a great professor.

I took this class for my minor in Humanities, and it is a LOT of work. The most important thing is to ALWAYS do extra credit! I am a good student (all A's and 1 B), the most I made on one of his tests was a 59! Thankfully he adds the extra credit (an additional 20-29 points) to the final score. Overall not a bad prof, and he will work with you.

Dr. V is a great guy. I think, outside of the classroom, he'd be great to talk to because he's a wealth of great information. In the class though, there is so much to do. There was more to do in this class than my other 3 combined! I earned an A, but I worked so very hard to get that A! Extra credit saved my life!

Dr. Vassar is good guy, willing to help out when needed. BUT He is way to much and gives way to much work in 2k level class and makes it harder than it should. Unless your a history person and enjoy reading and lots of HW he is for you. All others advise to take another professor, Wasting to much time on 1 classes work, can't focus on other work!

Dr. Vassar seems like a solid person. His replies to email are typically prompt and helpful. He is very quiz-heavy, so be prepared! He give extra credit opportunities! So much to do- I had more work in this class than in my three senior-level classes combined! I learned a lot and would probably take his classes again one day.

I love professor Vassar! I have taken his class twice and would take it again given the chance. That said, his classes are not for the faint of heart. You should be willing to not only attend class but participate in daily discussions, read and write at least every week, and study for the lengthy quizzes and exams. The hard work is worth the effort

Although many have given Dr. Vassar terrible ratings, I did really enjoy the class. Yes there is a lot of reading to do and it is a tough class, but if you put in the time and effort, you will do fine. I really learned so much in this class that I never really thought about before. If you like history you will probably like the class.

Professor Vassar is passionate about what he is teaching. It's hard to teach philosophy without adding your own personal bias, but he does try! I spent a lot of time reading the text book for the papers. Expect 5 or more papers and lots of quizzes online. Take this class if you are interested in philosophy in general. Im happy I took the class!

He's a great guy, very genuine , cares for his students. However, I do more homework in this class than all 3 of my literature and history classes COMBINED. Uses Blackboard but it's SUPER disorganized and you have to hunt for assignments and they're easy to miss. I don't recommend him to lazy students at all, you will fail. Others should be okay.

Great teacher, but does give out a lot of sporadic homework. He does grade fairly, but the material can be confusing to understand. He is very willing to discuss topics with you to help you better understand, and he bit his tongue a LOT during class discussions but he WILL correct misinformation or shut down a very bad and uniformed argument.

Great guy, but just gives way too much homework. I took modern cultures with him and he made it way too difficult. If you do take him, don't plan on taking any other classes cause this will take up most of your time. He makes all of his own assignments, so sometimes you're set up to fail. Would not recommend taking this guy.

I took him last semester for the online Ancient Cultures class. After reading the reviews on here I was very scared but I had no other choice. I found him very nice and very willing to work with you if you just ask. He gives a lot of homework and some of it is hard to decipher but really if he can see you are trying he grades easy. Would take again

This class had more assignments then all of my other classes for the ENTIRE year combined. Hope you plan to take this class and nothing else! you'll have long assignments due each week. usally 3 or 4 that will take an hour minimum to complete. Questions are worded so that you get them wrong. Nearly my entire class failed, noone got an A or B.

Took him online, Would dump 6 or 7 assignments on us a week and frequently changes due dates. Quizzes are around 100 questions each (3-5 a week). Hope you like writing papers, more writing then a comp class. Exams? Impossible to pass. "Study Guide" doesn't cover what is on the test. Also about 25% of Exam questions is content that wasn't covered.

Worst Professor I've ever had! His power points are like scattered puzzles that will take you hours to figure out what he is actually trying to teach. Not sure what test bank he gets his questions from, but it sure isn't from the material given out in class. This guy is disrespectful and arrogant. I'm shocked the NSU board hasn't made some changes!

Switch classes if you still can. 70+ question quizes two or three times a week. Very tough class to pass unless you can afford to spend 10-15 hrs a week preparing for every assignment. And no one has time for that with a full time schedule, job, and family for a simple humanities class. I spent less time studying for anatomy, biology, & zoology.

This professor is very biased, but can set that aside if he has to. Tends to be pretty out there, sometimes he is neither here nor there, yet finds a way to attach everything together. Lots of busy work, if you don't mind tedious searching for worthless info that does not stick, it should not be hard to pass. easy to pass but a lot of work to do it
