When you go to lecture, the material seems like common sense. You get bored easily and I found myself watching baseball (Giants) games from my laptop during lecture. However, the exams are much worse than the lectures. I feel like you need to be some sort of Bio major to get a decent grade on them.

Shes easy, but she will put you to sleep, especially during relaxation labs, which are fun but the whole point is to not fall asleep. theres 3 major projects and a midterm and final.

Comment:

Barbara Hutchings is the best writing teacher I have ever had. I really do feel like I am a much better writer after taking her class. She doesn't criticize students, and she will go out of her way to make sure everyone will succeed. I would definitely recommend taking her for Kin 100W.

boring lectures. they're all common sense. the stress labs don't help relieve stress, in fact, it puts you to sleep! the class itself is stressful because she is annoying and always go off-topic. talks about her life and teaches life lessons rather than from textbook. useless class, but easy A.

Horrible professor. Uses overhead style notes meaning there is no way to reproduce them and she just rambles. She is an idealist and acts like she is a saint. Never talks about readings but just tells you to do them. Got my first ever C in my life with her. Nit picky grader and person...advise not to take her if possible...

Every class I went to I was pulling my hair out! She'll talk to you like you're in elementary school. Plus, for her "big" assignments, she'll add an extra requirement at the last minute. She also claims that the school is an APA using campus. I don't know about anyone else, but all my classes use MLA.

This class is almost a joke. It is ridiculously easy. She treats her students like 10 year olds, and her lectures are full of obvious things that everybody knows already. If you want to grab 3 easy units, this class is a must. The hardest part of the class is not going crazy from boredom during lecture.

She is the reason why students hate English. She grades your papers as if you were a high profile author, her comments are always very negiatve. Gives a writing assignment every week and when its returned it looks like it went through world war 2...Men be warned, you are at a disadvantage from the first day. Tests are 8-12 pages all multiple choice

Really easy class...if you can survive the lecture. There's no complex information or anything, its just extremely boring. I mean EXTREMELY boring. I have definitely drifted off many times. There are 3 assignments, a midterm, and final. I recommend following the syllabus, taking notes from the book at home, and just not going to lecture.

She is nice but dont get on her bad side. she says that she doesnt really get md if you miss class but then i missed class twice and she jumped down my throat. if you dont follow her directions on tests than she makes a fool of you and yells at you in front of the whole class. its a cake class but stay unnoticed or be on her good side 2papers/tests

Very nice teacher. If you have problems with the term papers, go see her office hours. She'll go over it with you. Make sure to study for her final exam. If you go to class, take notes, and study, you'll do wonderfully. Personally, I found the subject a little boring, but that's just myself. Didn't use the book as much.

This teacher, should NOT be in the collegiate system. Her class notes are written 5 minutes before class starts. She is often corrected by students bc/ her information is not always accurate. Students are treated like middle schoolers. Males, expect constant bashing. 1 Class she spent the entire time going over a VERY SIMPLE 3 page assignment.

this was one of the easiest classes i took this semester . she explained things well and was really nice about everything . she told us what we needed to make sure we knew for the final which made the final a lot easier . everything that we studied was basically on it . all the assignments were easy to do too . she's pretty easy on grading

Tough class. Extremely clear directions. Thoroughly critiques papers and allows rewrites. Commited to student success. Tests are bad so depend on papers for your grade. Very available after class and it's strongly suggested that you take advantage of that. I learned how to write a better paper, something that is indispensable to you as a student.

this was one of my easiest classes i've taken. i dont know why everyone thinks she's so hard. she totally not strict on grading. if anyone thinks that she's strict on grading, they're incredibly LAZY and dumb. she was WAY too gracious on the paper. if i had turned in that paper at my high school, i would've gotten a C. but i got an A instead. there's NOTHING hard about her lecs. it was my shortest class of the week. i hardly read the book, studied for a couple hours, got an A.

As long as you pay attention in class and take notes, the class is cake. As long as you know how to write a term paper in APA form and find scholarly journal articles, its so easy. I've seen way worse teachers and she is no where near being a bad teacher. She writes an outline of the notes on the board and lectures thereafter. If you pay well enough attention during every class meeting, the midterm/final shall be a nice walk in the park.
