I had professor silva for research methods and stats. She is always willing to help you with anything and always tries to clear up any confusion or questions during the class lectures. I 100% recommend for anyone to take a class with Kathleen especially for either stats or research methods.

Comment:

Kathleen is best professor that I've ever had. She cares about you and your grade and literally spells out how to pass the class. Just go to class, it's super laid back and do your work. She'll maybe even crack a few jokes. Highly recommend! One of the best of the psychology department.

I had her for statistics, you could tell she was passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. She didn't mind talking with you after class if you needed help or clarity on something and was a reasonable person. I really enjoyed her and her class.

Kathleen is an awesome professor! As long as you do the reading and homework you will do well in her class. Her lectures can be somewhat long at times but if you take notes in her class then you will do well on the quizzes. There are only two tests that are multiple choice!

She took over my Psych 100 class after our original professor was in the hospital, and she did really well at meshing her teaching style with how we already did things. She's super nice and always available to help.

She doesn't understand how anything in the school works other than her class. If you get badly sick or need anything from her that is not class related. Prepare to have eight other people to tell her the exact same information before she does nothing with it. You can not get an incomplete if you become ill in her class.

K. Silva is friendly, approachable, & passionate about her work. She offers help, and makes herself extremely available. My only critique is that her organization is oftentimes a little muddled. Take good notes and organize them on your own and you'll be fine! The homework relates to tests and projects so its not too much work. & only 2 tests!

She is an amazing teacher! I loved her class and she made any difficult information easy to understand. Her tests apply to real life situations. If you pay attension and actually do the homework (which is super easy if you read) then your grade will be fine. But she is super nice and really approachable. One of my favorite teachers.

I don't know why people are being so hard on her. I found her to be very clear, excited about her own material, open to questions and really helpful. It wasn't too exciting of a class but it was straightforward and I learned a lot.

I don't know what the people below are saying. I had her last year and yes it is a hard class but it's research methods, it's supposed to be! She's really helpful and gives you templates on how to write your paper. She makes it a lot easier. I would definately take other classes with her.

words cannot express. HORRIBLE professor - the worst on campus. If you can help it NEVER EVER take a class with the Silvas. They monopolize the worst classes to take in the major and make them an AWFUL experience - she thinks her class is YOUR life and homework can take HOURS. She purposely makes it hard, loves to make you hate your life.

Although she is pretty hard, it is not hard to do well in her class. She actually made me enjoy and become interested in research methods. She knows the subject and is by far the best research methods professor on campus. Allowing students to be hands on with their own research was also a big plus!
